I had a run where my Tav asked Wyll what he intends to do with his freedom after breaking the pact and he told he wants to hunt down Mizora. I wish we could have got a DLC to this case!

If you take Jaheira with you to that encounter, he has a bit more screen time. But this is what I love about this game. The amount of love which went into all the characters, no matter how small their role.

I guess with Ketheric it was because the loss of his beloved daughter has driven him into his path. Lorroakan does all for completely selfish reasons and his cruelty is unnessesary and sadistic.

I really liked that he did became a better person in my playthrough. My warlock was not exactly a paragon of virtue, but ultimately wanted to do good things and was helpful, caring and loving. And it seemed to have influenced Astarion in the course of the story.

Astarion is an anti-hero like the Punisher or Deadpool - if you don't ascend him. He finds a career as an adventurer afterwards. Ascended Astarion is of course a villain. But his story development is not set in stone.

For me the ascension ritual was the final stab to kill the man Astarion could be, to create Astarion the ascended monster. Very Vampire the Masquerade like, but for me it only worked in the context of Dark Urge unleashed and without romancing Astarion. Two monsters side by side.

The evil ending is surely shorter, but it is logical to be that way. If you become the absolute, there is no interaction with companions at the end to be had. They have all become your puppets. There is just nothing more to tell. All stories end.

I have a headcanon for my Tav (Tiefling warlock Perry) and Astarion: They go help Gale get the crown and bring it to Mystra. Then Perry uses his charms to get one wish from her - so Astarion is able to walk in the sun again. The price is having more adventures for them (+Halsin).

Elminster is hundreds of years old. Gale just need to push his level up, so he can get his hands onto some Wish spells. :)
My Warlock Tav would probably just make another pact with his Patron to get this sweet youthful longevity and stay with Astarion. 😈

He did laid my Tav at the end of his story when he finally got his closure and started to live for himself. He just needed time to adjust to his new self and to what it means to have a true relationship, to have something genuine.

He was not a nice person before being turned into a Spawn in the first place, and he is totally messed up by 200 years of being a puppet for Cazador. So... it is kinda understandable. Though he gets better if Tav cares for him (romance or not), but still never becomes a saint.

The goblins are a warband, not some civilians. They don't have a village, thats a fortification they created on stolen property. The Tieflings on the other hand are civilians who just wanted to travel safely, but got slaughtered.
And I really would not defend the Chosen.

For my Tav, it would be "Road to redemption" in the the "Curse of Strahd" campaign. His main goal is to find a way to undo his demonic pact and to save his soul. He tries to do good. Maybe something like "Devil with a heart of gold" since he is also a Tiefling. :D

I just wish he would have a dialogue option to decide for himself like Shadowheart in the 2nd act. He would probably sacrifice himself once again, being the noble soul he is. I really would like to know his decision and not decide his fate by myself.

Just played with the character editor yesterday because I wanted to make a Llolth-sword Drow warlock (Great Old One) for one of my next runs. I think he kinda looks like Michael Keaton. Made him as old as possible. Love him already.

Well, I also cannot accept that becoming a monster like his abuser somehow is seen as a "good" ending for the character. Yes, it fits some narratives, like the evil Durge / Tav story and interactions. But that's it.

I believe that Astarion can change his ways _a bit_ concerning Tav and things like helping children if he is loved and does not ascend. But even then he never becomes a saint (which was fine for my Tav, he is none either). Ascended Astarion is a totally different beast / monster.

Exactly. I tried out ascending him just to see the cutscenes - and it went exactly as expected, him turning into a refined, cold-hearted monster. I know why I have been aiming for refusing the ritual in any good playthrough. There he actually becomes a better person.

Think of it: He is the pretty thing luring victims to his boss. He is the one who seduces your Tav for protection (if you romance him) or tries to get on his good side (if there is no romance). These are usually behaviours which are used with female characters. And I love it.

I am not sure if this is his seductive persona here or his real self, because his facade only begins to crumble in Act 2. But the finale with sex on the graveyard, that is telling everything. He is not sex-repulsed, he just needed time to adjust to a real relationship.

I have been romancing her on my Durge and it was really sweet. He resisted Bhaal, she resisted Shar. They both got out of the ordeal alive and happier than before. The scene where her life is at stake had incredible tension!

Minthara is evil by choice and comviction. Its something different from Astarion's evil. Also he changes a bit if you care for him (romance or not). But she does not change at all - which is good in my book. That's the whole point of having conviction in your world wiew.

My warlock Tav laughs in Infernal when dropping invisibility to curse Cazador, letting hastened Lae'zel loose while Shadowheart grins and unleashes sunbeam from Lathander's weapon... Astarion just has to finish with the last stab. :D

While I think that Astarion is not totally sex-repulsed (at least not in the case of Tav when their romance endures) - I find it really creepy & disgusting if I see him being abused, especially by Cazador with the implication that its a romance and not a horrible thing.

And one of the reasons for that it the reinforcement of the idea that men and women have to be clearly separated from each other - instead of accepting the gender continuum, where any kind of behaviour, clothes or looks would not be regarded as "male" or "female" but "human".

Gale also hugged my Tav without a romance. I was especially surprised because it was heartbreaking for him, since it was a decision between him and Astarion for my Tav. Gale is so sweet if he stays human.

People make mistakes and some mistakes can be forgiven if they learn from them and don't repeat. Rolling persuasion is a mechanics problem. In a pen&paper game, I would have let Astarion roll for Insight to check if Tav is really sorry or just wants to have a pass.
