Teachers, children & families are collateral damage in a failing system, left to manage ever more complex needs as support is stripped away, then told it’s “inclusivity”. Is this the change people voted for? @bphillipsonMP

You bet it is ‘a concern.’ Just look at this government! The genuinely most gifted academic candidates have been looking elsewhere, for well over a decade.

“The real reason teachers are leaving?” New research illustrates system failure of insufficient support to meet pupils’ increasingly complex needs. Wait until they have to do it without EHCPs in mainstream. When will the Government ACTUALLY listen?

I’m not allowed to say it in Parliament, but I can here: today the Prime Minister lied and lied and lied again. And he did so to smear a man defending our veterans in court against the Labour government. Labour have attacked everyone from farmers, to businesses, to veterans, so

Exactly this. Many children that go to private school are children that can not cope in mainstream school. I know lots of people that have removed their children from state school and placed into private as their needs were not or could not be met. But children aren’t the

The 100 private schools closed by spiteful Labour policies are not the grand public schools. They’re small places where children with special needs find the close attention and help state schools can’t provide. Those kids will be devastated. Shame on you, @bphillipsonMP

@Karmaviolet12 That's a fair point, Claire, and it's exactly why choice matters. A serious education system has to distinguish between high expectations and rigidity. They are not the same thing. What you describe isn't avoidance or excuse-making; it's realism. Your daughter has worked,

A year on from this pernicious policy, over 100 independent schools have already closed as a result of Labour’s tax on school fees. We should be expanding opportunity, not undermining it.

Quite unbelievable that we have a government pretending to care about children whilst implementing a tax deliberately targeting children in private schools. Shameful legacy.

I know what it is like to set something up from scratch- how hard it is to get it off the ground. These politicians have never built anything. And they tear down the hard work that others do. The years, the struggle, the risks taken… These damn politicians have no idea. 🙄

Amid all the ideological twiddling and class warfare please remember this. By far the best engine for opportunity and social mobility, is a growing economy. By far. "Free breakfast" at school, culminating in no job, is a dismal offering to the young. @LauraTrottMP
