This is how they would have treated the experts who warned them that VPNs would easily circumvent ID checks. The woman is a former Labour MP who supported the Online Safety Act.

"This act makes children less safe!". Reform UK's Zia Yusuf makes his party's case for repealing the Online Safety Act, citing the uptick in downloads of VPNs. #Newsnight

Entirely unsurprising . I really hope we can turn things around else I fear the U.K. will not recover in my lifetime.

Over 1 in 4 young Brits are seriously thinking about leaving the UK. That includes 29% of Labour voters and 32% of Tory voters. A 🧵on what this means and what needs to be done before it’s too late.

I really don’t think Labour have any idea just how much this Online Safety Act is utterly detested by young people.

This is going to be so damaging for UK tech. Luckily I cant see the US putting up with this for long. They will push for exemptions and sue the government into scrapping this nonsense.

It's great that as a sociecty we can suport disabled people. In principle, an event to help them find suitable transportation is not a bad thing in itself. But what was obvioulsy started as a well meaning scheme has snowballed into a complete taxpayer funded fraud and it needs.

Found out about "Motability Live" today. Flashy new BMWs on offer. Nearly 1M "disabled" people with these free cars now. The government is just taking the piss out of the taxpayer at this point.

The Online Safety Act is just not necessary. It would have been much better to do a public awareness campaign around the many existing parental controls available for free.

Starmer lying again. He claims Labour have deported 35k people in front of Trump. What he didn’t mention is the majority were voluntary. Only 6.3k were enforced returns.

The Online Safety Act is going to massively backfire . Fundamentally, the state simply can’t replace good parenting. As a result of this legislation, millions of parents will think they don’t need to monitor kids and setup their own restrictions online. I believe more kids will.

Everyone is hating the Online Safety Act. Must be one of the worst pieces of legislation ever. The tories introduced it but virtually all MPs voted it through. Says a lot about the quality of politicians in the U.K.

The general view of the UK economy is that it's been stagnating for decades now. But on some of the most important metrics it's actually going backwards.
