✍️ Latest @Glasgow_Times column. Zack Polanski took the fight to Reform on national telly this week. They were well and truly rattled. We can turn a Green surge into radical change in Glasgow. Join us. 👉 https://t.co/TwO4FGoah4

Food price inflation is the one of the main proxies for global warming and climate change, which drives extremes of temperature and precipitation leading to lower yields. It’s literally the world telling you that global warming is a massive and increasing threat to civilisation.

100pc this. There's also not much difference between the last official Labour policy, the Greens' policy and what SNP colleagues tell me privately what they want, i.e. a proportionate, local, property tax, based on up-to-date valuations, with mitigations for asset-rich/cash-poor.

There will never be a consensus to replace the unfair and wildly out of date Council Tax. The Tories (& Reform) won't agree to replace it with something fairer. The SNP and Labour know this. They shout 'consensus' at each other as cover for their own inaction & lack of solutions

Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and judge them based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism. The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us. The Greens say enough

Madness, absolute madness. Hyperscale data centres typically are: - hugely resource intensive (typical equivalence would be 30-50k homes’ water use) - of limited impact on productivity - create very few jobs - depreciate rapidly - you’re building a white elephant. Paper below

whatever happened to just always being against the killing of civilians? it's not complicated: I vehemently don't want Jewish civilians to be murdered and I vehemently don't want Palestinian civilians to be murdered

Holding Muslim people collectively responsible for the actions of Islamic terrorists is as wrong as it is to hold Jewish people collectively responsible for the actions of the IDF. Could we for once have a conversation about tackling hate & extremism that isn't completely stupid.

I've just turned my phone on after Yom Kippur, when like many British Jews I go out of digital contact. I've just felt a visceral shock of such terrible news. My thoughts and prayers with all affected in Manchester. We cannot allow division and hatred to rule. I'm proudly

Our thoughts, prayers and solidarity are with the victims and the whole community at Heaton Park synagogue. This horrific attack coming on Yom Kippur will only compound the pain felt by our Jewish friends and neighbours.

Four Scots have been kidnapped by the Israeli military while trying to deliver lifesaving food and medical supplies to starving Palestinians as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla. The UK government must intervene, and this genocide must be brought to an end. @Ross_Greer at #FMQs

Superb achievement for Scotland. The power to do this should be in the hands of devolved authorities across England too. The housing market is broken and (most) homes cannot move, so areas of high rents threatening the functioning of society are easy to define and take action on.

🚨BREAKING 40 years ago Margaret Thatcher abolished rent controls in Scotland. The Scottish Parliament just passed a Bill introduced by the Scottish Greens, which will allow them once more! This will keep rents affordable and offer safety and stability to renters. 🙌

This is a remarkable story about the power of research, and a source of hope for those struck down by a terrible disease. Whenever people cast doubt on the importance of universities and their research, they need to be told about work like this.

I’ve written to Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper demanding urgent action to ensure the safety of the Global Sumud Flotilla. 52 boats carrying aid and peace activists to Gaza. The UK must act to assure their safety. Israel is committing a genocide. All eyes are on this flotilla.
