Most private land in Scotland is in the hands of a handful of billionaires, tax avoiders and aristocrats. The Scottish Government's 'Land Reform' bill was an opportunity to fix that, but it is astonishingly weak. A wasted opportunity when bravery was required.

Scotland generates huge amounts of cheap, clean electricity from renewables. That isn't reflected in our bills though, because the UK's energy system is rigged in favour of the corporations who control it, not the people who need it.

Scotland is a country of over 5m people. But fewer than 500 people & companies own most of the private land. The Scottish Government want us to support another 'land reform' bill which won't fix any of this. I had to ask the First Minister, are they just scared of billionaires?

100pc this. There's also not much difference between the last official Labour policy, the Greens' policy and what SNP colleagues tell me privately what they want, i.e. a proportionate, local, property tax, based on up-to-date valuations, with mitigations for asset-rich/cash-poor.
There will never be a consensus to replace the unfair and wildly out of date Council Tax. The Tories (& Reform) won't agree to replace it with something fairer. The SNP and Labour know this. They shout 'consensus' at each other as cover for their own inaction & lack of solutions

Lots of people are angry - and they have every right to be. The chancers in Reform want that anger directed at refugees and other vulnerable groups, not the greedy landlords, tax avoiders and billionaires actually making life so difficult for everyone else.
