How utterly disappointing email from Forsa to SNAs re contracts. No increase in pay for QQI6 or beyond 15 yr 72 hours kept will be doing CPD we already did to adhere to hours. June working still there. Absolutely no back bone. @forsa_union_ie @SNAsSpeakOut #Repectforsnas

“To have that extra time to process, and go over what I’m reading would be really helpful for me and it would help to level out the playing field with my peers.” Read in the @irishexaminer today calls from students and families for #extratime. https://t.co/I5eipbbijE

'I didn’t have extra time in my exams, I had a reader, but I still had to write my answers, which was just ridiculous when I was advised to use assistive technology,' says one student

Where any SNAs consulted on their input for the course Supporting the Deployment of SNAs. The NCSE should set up an SNA organisation to consult with their expertise in the field it is after all their job which they seem to have very little say in. #respectforsnas
Schools across the country will receive a poster listing the NCSE’s TPL seminars for this academic year. These seminars can be registered for on our website, using the link below. We are looking forward to welcoming all teaching staff who register. https://t.co/lAzl1cqvrJ

Best of luck Carol.
This is a personal post. I'm used to campaigning but not for myself. ☺️ Yesterday I submitted by email my intention to run as Chair of NDNL SNA branch of @forsa_union_ie I did this because I want to assist our branch to represent SNAs to the best of their abilities.

The Sisters of Charity built St Vincents with public money. They mortgaged it to build their own private hospital. Now we're paying €1b+ to build another hospital which their company will own. Are we mad? Rally at the Dáil 2pm tomorrow #DitchDonnellysDeal #MakeNMHOurs

Change to QQI 6 will professionalise role and garner #respectforsnas within schools and wider community. DES have written to WRC saying leave as is 3D's in JC is sufficient. Grossly unfair then expecting CVs to be QQI 6 & specfic courses to gain employment

Qualification set for SNAs in 1979 needs changing some of the diverse needs in schools were not diagnosed or represented then. SNAs have upskilled and arranged CPD themselves to meet this. The new qualification and update of role should reflect this. #RespectForSNAs

Well said. Also in addition to Autism class need more similar classes for AEN students who would hugely benefit from smaller class numbers and better set up for their needs and integrate slowly where possible to mainstream. Early intervention is key. @SNAAGIre @SNAsSpeakOut

3Ds in Junior Cert change to QQI 6 for new entrants will professionalise role & hopefully better pay, terms #respect4snas DES have written to WRC saying leave as is and up to BOM to decide. Grossly unfair then expecting CVs to be QQI 6 and specfic courses and not pay accordingly.

We fought hard to repeal the 8th - we cannot allow our #NationalMaternityHospital to be gifted to a religious entity which will restrict our access to reproductive health care. The @SocDems are bringing a motion to the Dáil tomorrow - please share and contact your TDs 🙌.

We need solidarity on this and not sign up. For SNAs to realise the long term implications with this course set at keeping the 3Ds in JC for entry level. Pls choose a different course and force DES to accredite the National SNA Training course. @AodhanORiordain @josephamadigan
Shame on @education_Irl DES who set up a National SNA training program and deem it not worthy of accreditation making it worthless on paper when UCD think it's level 7. How much more disrespect can the sna sector take from their employer @SNAsSpeakOut @emma_okelly @IrishTimes

Consistent research showing the reality of the educational element an SNA has in their role for decades esp mainstream @ncseirl and @Education_Ire state criteria as care needs only as to update this would lead to more allocations. @emma_okelly

Hope this gets highlighted again for our #newwomenshospital National Maternity hospital and #separatechurchandstate same for our schools to divest patronage so inclusive RSE is taught and not Flourish as instructed by the bishops. @DonnellyStephen @MichaelMartinTD

Children should have access to inclusive education in their local community. Well done Adam for highlighting this important issue. DES should look at areas where these resources are missing and insist schools offer this irrespective of post code. @SNAsSpeakOut @SNAAGIre
.@AsIAmIreland was delighted to appear @OireachtasNews on @Education_Ire today. Inclusive, appropriate education is a right. Not charity. Not non-statutory “schemes”. Law, resources and schools must reflect this. Inclusion should happen in every postcode

Unbelievable, Age risk was the worry. Majority of SNAs are in the 40 upwards group and underlying illnesses increase with age. Essential workers mixing with lots of households every day. #KeepYourPromiseMM to have us in top 30% made in Feb

Thank you as always Aodhan for standing up for SNAs. Overlooked and undervalued by DES and now Gov backtracked on promise to vaccinate us in first 30% Should #VaccinateSNAs after elderly and medically at risk. Let us get on with what we do best in a safe environment.
