Reviewed a nice #CryoET paper in journal club today and it got me wondering... @ScienceMagazine has a very clear policy on data and computational methods. Why isn't this policy upheld for the #CryoEM and #TeamTomo communities? #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

Arctica pumping out great data! This is a ~130KDa membrane protein from @TheCHLeeLab and Relion4 on-the-fly align it very well! #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience (And of course GoldGrids for best imaging!)

10. Fast and easy-to-use #GPU-powered software! In 2022, we delivered updates that made our software more intuitive, faster, and more powerful. And we also updated our open API, because we believe that #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience.

After some Python tinkering (pun intended) we have rln4 on the fly running! Real happy. Thanks to @SjorsScheres @ColinMPalmer @Guillawme @AlisterBurt for being open source enthusiasts and allow others to use their code. #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

I remember reading his Paper about tau filaments and Cryo-em before I joined EMBL as a PhD student. Now I have the honor to listen it in Person. @instructhub @SjorsScheres #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

Why are we still permitting publication methods that don't provide source code and are hosted on non-functional servers? For me, this is one of the biggest issues in structural biology. #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

Good memories from the @BirkbeckUoL🦉/ @ismb_london for the @EMBO practical course for #cryoEM ❄️🔬. The next generation learned data processing with @cryosparc's Rich & Hannah, #RELION with Sjors (#OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience). Processing #CryoEM data ? Then #TryEverything👨‍💻

Today we started discussing about hardware/software needs and setup for cryoEM. Nice talk by colleagues @jelykar from @AarhusUni and Stefan from @scilifelab, @Stockholm_Uni. Last slide about Free Software! #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

In addition to just thinking the work is cool, I'm really proud of the symbiotic relationship https://t.co/vjOLZWdye6 has developed with the Lucas lab over the past year while they built their extensible implementation of 2DTM #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

The code will be fully open-source under BSD-3 license after a closed beta where we'll test and debug in a few different contexts and polish the overall experience. #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

Finally, the optimized #Python code should work faster, and changes to the @GoHugoIO server allow smooth operation from remote workstations. The code, as always, is #opensource because #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience! 5/6

@SjorsScheres @naturemethods We are sorry for our ignorance. The source code of THUNDER hosted on Github has changed to GPL v2 license. We do agree on #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience. As RELION is one the pioneers in cryoEM image processing, we believe that every follower did learn from RELION.

Great stuff! Suggestion: use Relion5,it will extract all available information specially if you have a mixture of free subunits/ribosome/ribosomes with/without factors. Do not hesitate to reach out should you need help. #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience

Ours and @slavicaPD lab first take on CryoEM of ribosome structure with new fast (minutes) isolation methodology. Shout out to Jessey Erath. Screening images and 2 hours into data collection you can see nice and valuable ribosomes.
