I think we crowd-sourced a fix for the 6th St viaduct, close it to cars, open it to everyone else (pedestrian, transit, bikes) #6thstreetBridge @StreetsblogLA @streetsforall @awalkerinLA @MaltzanArch @6thStViaduct @kdeleon @MayorOfLA @CaltransHQ @LADOTofficial @KTLA @FOXLA @CBSLA

The new CA High-Speed Rail business plan calls for using existing tracks in the LA area, similar to the shared Caltrain tracks in NorCal. This concept would cost $126b and could be in service by 2040, the agency projects. No indication yet of the updated travel time estimates.

LA is planning what could be the most expensive and complex transit project in American history — a subway across the Sepulveda Pass. If it ever gets built, the benefits would be huge. An 80 min trip shaved to 20 mins, 100K+ rides per day, transfers to 4 other lines. Story👇

I noticed @metrolosangeles has different info screen graphics at Union station, these are such an improvement, with departures in a chronological sequence (not clumped by line) and alerts do not take up the whole screen and cover the departures, when will we see this system-wide?

a theory of mine is that social media has completely broken the mind of Gen Z and millennials when it comes to work their whole lives they have been told to pursue college, work really hard at their 9-5 job, go above and beyond for their boss, then save some income to hopefully

Why is the rent so damn high in LA? Simple economics: the demand for housing is extremely high and our housing supply is extremely low.

These new Toronto style bike lane barriers on 3rd st in DTLA are fantastic! Tall precast concrete curbs like these should become the standard around LA, they are effective, durable, easy to install! Great job @LADOTofficial we need more of these all over DTLA and beyond

+1 for single staircases! Today, City Council adopted legislation that I introduced with my colleague @CD5LosAngeles to update our Building Codes and remove an antiquated requirement that all apartment buildings over three stories must have a double stairwell.

Trans kids didn’t hike your rent. Billionaires did. Immigrants didn’t make your groceries more expensive. Billionaires did. Federal workers didn’t take away your health care. Billionaires did.

.@SecDuffy gets booed off the stage in California as he lies profusely and tries to blame Democrats for the fact that the high speed rail system still hasn’t been built. What a fucking joke this entire administration is.

Very interesting development. U.S. Secretary of Transportation holding a press conference tomorrow about L.A.'s high speed rail project, Brightline West. The rail would connect L.A. to Las Vegas at 186mph in 2 hours, 10 min & is expected to begin revenue service in 2028. 🧐
Incoming: U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy at Union Station in Los Angeles tomorrow morning with an announcement about high-speed rail.

Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity. People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now. You work for them. Thank you for making that crystal clear to all.
This is a delicate moment. It’s a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety. It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on
