We've become really good at taking big piles of data and operationalizing them into input -> output mappings that display skillfulness across any task you might want. But that's orthogonal to intelligence. Intelligence is the ability to efficiently adapt to new tasks.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that we need to be VERY CAREFUL about what conclusions we draw in research that involves GPT-3 (even as a baseline). We don't really know all we need to know about how the different versions are trained. Many use instruct-like training methods
