Our paper on SARS-CoV-2 recombination was just accepted at @Virus_Evolution! Very appreciative of the advice and support my advisors @KoelleLab and @AniceLowen provided. This project has developed into a much more robust analysis with your help https://t.co/3q2W1fQpGP

I’m so impressed with how tirelessly Djenet worked to make this amazing paper a reality. I always secretly thought she had the coolest thesis project in our program! Give it a read, I’m sure you’ll agree! Congratulations to everyone involved!
I am thrilled to share my PhD work @MicrobiologyMit @MITBiology @BostonChildrens out today at @ScienceMagazine. 1/ https://t.co/YnCtYSGEgB

A postdoctoral position is available in our lab in either computational biology or molecular genetics (or ideally experience in both) to work on bacteria-phage interactions. Please email martin.f.polz@univie.ac.at with a CV and a brief description of your expertise if interested.

So very excited to finally share our paper on phage-driven evolution of wild bacteria out now in @ScienceMagazine! Huge props and thanks to my entire lab family and dream team, esp. my partner in crime @JavierDubert and my mentors @FredoLeRoux @MartinPolz

This is a really amazing work by my incredibly talented brother, performing single cell ribosome profiling with their new method scRibo-seq. Able to profile primary mammalian cells that are so rare it'd be impossible with any other method. Very cool work. Congrats to all authors!
We are very excited to share our work in @Nature on developing scRibo-seq, a method for #singlecell ribosome profiling! With @jervdberg, Amanda Andersson-Rolf, @HansClevers, and @AlexandervanOu1

We now include a filtering step to exclude any potentially recombinant genomes that could have evolved through de novo mutation, using a very conservative threshold. While the total number of putative recombinants is now lower, our main conclusions are consistent

A spectacular study by @fatiaysh and @JavierDubert showing how evolution of phage resistance in environmental microbes is driven primarily by mobile elements, not receptor mutations as seen in the lab co-evolution studies It was a pleasure watching it develop over the years!
Thought I'd stick this thesis chapter online in a more accessible format... more to come! ;) Only made possible by my genetics partner in crime, @JavierDubert, and the rest of my lab family <3
