Inter professional learning has massive benefits. Paramedic are helpful humans. Pls remember OT is a strange place for paramedics - too much light, too clean, beds are too high, too many breaks…pls be kind and ensure their psychological safety.

Paramedic specialists treat from birth to death across the spectrum of BMIs. Most adv airways are in cardiac arrest. Most airways are contamination. All learning opportunities are valuable. Basic airway skills, adjuncts, lifelines, SAD (any type), ETT (any), laryngoscope (any).

@NSWAmbulance paramedics routinely use a McGrath VL with 3 & 4 blades with DL as a plan B. We routinely use a bougie. Our ICPs use magIl forceps, insert gastric tubes, OPAs, NPAs & insert iv / io. We are in process of introducing @VortexApproach. Our SAD is the iGel.

Thanks to NSW FANZCAs and @anzca trainees for looking after @NSWAmbulance specialist trainees in OTs across @NSWHealth for the next few weeks. You are paying it forward - your investment & time will save lives.

We are on an exciting journey. Will require a pragmatic and sensible political environment, community engagement and solutions to address social determinants of health including transport. There must be coordinated alternatives to todays destinations.

Leaning more about opioids, benzos and ketamine is helpful. Leaning tips and tricks to identify and solve airway and ventilation issues is valuable. Practicing human factors is also good - eg patter whilst intubating, planning, sharing mental model, maintaining SA etc
