To all my colleagues in health care: We all mourn the days before covid when we thought it was okay to not mask for the majority of our in-person patient interactions. It felt great. Now we know so much disease is airborne and we can easily be vectors. 1/

@TheRealDKGray @PfParks @jvipondmd Dr Tailfeathers says that she resigned and didn't take severance so that she didn't have to sign an NDA so she could raise the alarm with Albertans. Speaks too the disproportionate risk and outcomes to First Nations and indigenous peoples.

@jennAA2014 Agreed. I think people confuse 95%+ level needed for POPULATION aka HERD IMMUNITY, meaning under 5% who can’t get vaccinated for medical reasons are still protected. But they aren’t told how effective for INDIVIDUAL: • 1 dose = 85-95% • 2 dose = ~100% https://t.co/T8jdXZ4Kre

This is just one more example of how many companies are not treating people like humans. There are +++ worse examples for sure. But in general, companies please do what you say you're going to do, and if you can't then make it easy for your customer to work around your glitches.

One of the biggest things the underfunded, understaffed, broken healthcare system has stolen from both doctors + patients is time. For a doctor to be able to provide quality care (+ not at the cost of personal sacrifice), time is ESSENTIAL. Especially for complex patients.

Is this show cancelled yet? Thousands of Canadians asked @cbcradio to rethink this. CBC twisted the question instead. Many Canadians asked you to stop. If you haven’t, why not? Canadian taxpayer monies pay for this corporation. Time to listen to the people.
You spoke, we listened. Let's try this again: What do you think of Trump's comments about Canada becoming the 51st state? Join the conversation this Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on CBC Listen. https://t.co/1igsoMLOp3

https://t.co/9ldoT6n1Qi For some reason our Premier stood in front of Albertan's on Wednesday and intentionally decided NOT to quote the AHS costs for the same surgeries - comparing apples to apples - but chose to confuse with CIHI numbers that are NOT comparable 2/7

Documents show that the company that facilitated purchase of children’s pain medication and a pair of proposed surgical facilities share a common owner

🧵The first paper from our project on viral illness in Alberta has been published @MarotoMichelle, @AmyKaler and I find that for many working parents balancing persistent circulation of sickness is untenable, and many have reached a point of resignation. https://t.co/vDb4jNouNF

“It’s not just fog, it’s a brain injury, basically,” said @MVGutierrezMD, chair of rehabilitation medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. “There are neurovascular changes. There’s inflammation. There are changes on M.R.I.s.” #LongCovid

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public. He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit. Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

If you are unwell with any winter virus or COVID-19, staying at home to recover is usually the best option. Doing that also helps reduce transmission in the community. If you do need to go into an indoor setting, a well-fitting mask can help protect others around you. (1/2)

The pharmacies who had none said, "We don't stock it; we only order it once a patient needs it," and "sorry, you'll have to just keep calling different pharmacies; there is no way for us to find it for you." This. Is. Unacceptable. Paxlovid needs to be promptly available. 2/2

Just how badly is @AdrianaLaGrange failing at her job? A bunch of us had to call Calgary pharmacy after pharmacy to source paxlovid for a patient on NYE. This is a huge waste of time. There should be a central way for pharmacists/docs to find it promptly. #abpoli

🧵 This is the most disgusting thing I have seen in 10 years on Twitter. Encouraging thousands of people to harass a family who has just experienced the most horrible loss imaginable is beyond despicable. Report this hateful posts and the sick replies, and then donate if you can.

4. As such, a relatively low-cost intervention to reduce pressure on the system is to reduce airborne nosocomial infections. High-quality HEPA should be running at all times in all hospital areas, and FFP2 minimum required for all staff. We should know this by now. /end
