This is the first time I’ve flown @porterairlines. If this is typical (last-minute cancellations + bad customer support), it’ll be the last.

This is completely whacked. The right to refuse all medical treatment - does that mean parents can refuse lifesaving care for their children? Childcare workers don’t need chickenpox vax? Smith is sucking up to antivaxers but ramifications.

In a few weeks time, our UCP Government will be introducing legislation to amend and strengthen the Alberta Bill of Rights, a document that has stood as a safeguard for our civil liberties and freedoms for decades. These changes are a reaffirmation of the values that make

Great work @AndieYEG and @pinglamjoeip. The @Alberta_UCP makes things up to justify their ideologically-driven agenda. Perfect example of opinion-based evidence.

🧵The Premier of Alberta recently shared an article in the Globe and Mail stating that opioid-related deaths had dropped “again," attributing this to the new Alberta recovery model showing “real results.” @pinglamjoeip and I pulled the provincial data to fact check this claim.

I'm guessing the idea (hope?) is that the NDP could take over as official opposition - but at the cost of a CPC-led government?? How is this a good thing? Not a fan of Trudeau but Poilievre would be a right-wing flaming train wreck for everyone except the 1%.

The deal is done. The Liberals are too weak, too selfish and too beholden to corporate interests to stop the Conservatives and their plans to cut. But the NDP can. Big corporations and CEOs have had their governments. It's the people's time.

And while I'm at it: TRANSIT SAFETY. This was mid-AM on one of @takeETSalert busiest bus routes. Ystdy afternoon saw 3 people w open flame/glass pipes who'd blocked waiting area of Bonnie Doon LRT. We need staff who are *physically present* to respond to emergencies/lawlessness.

Here we go again. Another person altered & agitated at bus stop on 109 St/83 Ave, another pointless @211Alberta call. Fortunately (?) person passed out & was lying on sidewalk so I could call 911. Medics came, revived person who staggered away refusing transport to hosp.

Hey @21l , get your act together. I’ve been trying to use 211 non-emergency to call for a wellness check for person across the street. I don’t want to approach bc they’re agitated, also don’t want to escalate to calling 911/cops. But no response. @PlanEdmonton #yegcc

I’m not back teaching until January but going to keep this in mind. If I’m assigning collab work, I’ll also make sure I allocate class time to it, even at the expense of not covering absolutely every topic possible in class.

Have a group project on your syllabus this semester? It's great for teaching collaboration, but it can also be ripe with racism and terrible outcomes for students of color if you don't sufficiently support groups. Learn from my mistakes (and research) 🧵.
