Kubernetes v1.20.0-rc.0 has been built and pushed using Golang version 1.15.5. Nice work release team!!
NOTE: if you are using docker in your k8s cluster ... please see this!
So long
#VMware
!! Anyone hiring for
#Kubernetes
skills in India? Please DM / get in touch on slack
A bunch of good people from erstwhile upstream/downstream team(s) are in the market and looking for their next awesome gig.
If you have a tip, let me know, RTs appreciated!!
Hey, you are all at
#kubeconEU
and drinking from the fire hose this week. I'd like to pitch to you to consider contributing actively to the community if you haven't already to help us all avoid the tragedy of the commons. Here's some things to get your started (1/16)
At
#KubeConEU
last week i realized i spent a bunch of time pointing folks to URL(s) to get them started with
@kubernetesio
Here's all(?) of them in a gist - If you see something missing please leave me a note there. pretty please!
One default that changed in
@kubernetesio
v1.25 releases was where we pull images from. Please note that we now use "". This works for all releases, not just v1.25. So please change any references in your automation tools to the new endpoint.
FWIW, If you peel the layers, the heart of
@kubernetesio
is just 5 binaries ( kube-apiserver kube-controller-manager kubelet kube-proxy kube-scheduler ) and 1 CLI ( kubectl ), we still have a simple bash script that can stand up cluster with just these binaries.
Please move to newer versions of the Kubernetes resources, all the newer versions have been available for a while (in already released k8s versions). Details are here:
This is not a drill :)
Amazon ECR has a new feature that drastically reduces cost to the
@kubernetesio
community infrastructure for container images, please enable this for your k8s clusters on AWS whether EKS or not!.
Folks, the k8s release team has cut a 1.27.1 as we found a couple of regressions. So don't use 1.27.0 which shipped earlier in the week, go with this please!
Sad take, come next year, Open Source projects will be as underfunded as they are today. Product teams will strip mine open source projects and won't lift a finger to help maintain projects they build on (oh! they WILL want features for sure!)
@kubernetesio
included!
Needless to say, but looks like it needs to be said .. if you have a large code base depending on an open source project. Don't wait until *AFTER* their release to check if your code still works. Try it when they publish alpha(s)/beta(s)/release-candidates(s) and complain EARLY!
Favorite KubeCon EU '24 talk so far: "Kubernetes Maintainers Read Mean Comments -

I missed this in person due to still talking to potential contributors after "Keep Calm And Loadbalance on KIND with

" 🙃

i sorely miss in-person events and hanging out in hallway track chatting about random stuff.
Do say hi on slack/whatsapp/DM during
#kubecon
(at least!)
Folks, please see the announcement here:
for a kubectl/krew plugin to help you identify images that are in the old repository (), these references should to move to the new registry ASAP! ()

Folks who are new to
@kubernetesio
community and want to get engaged in upstream stuff, if you are coming to San Diego and want to chat, hit me up on Slack or here.
Are you attending
#KubeCon
virtually? If you want to hang out with folks, we usually run a zoom daily.
@csantanapr

if you are going to leave a "why the hell you haven't implemented my pet feature" comment on an issue, do consider adding a note of thanks for all the things that do work well for the maintainers as well somewhere.
To celebrate Kubernetes upcoming 10-year,
@CloudNativeFdn
launched Contributor Cards 🙌
My 1st contribution to k8s was reporting an error that occurred when you ran a specific docker and pre-1.0 k8s version on ARM

What they say: we love open source in our company
What they mean: we get all this stuff free, we don't have to pay for it and we can just use it to do whatever we want
