The climate crisis affects every living being on this earth. We face a real need for greater global responsibility based on a sense of the oneness of humanity. If we fail to act, it is the children and grandchildren of today who will really suffer. For them we must act together.

Continuing to pollute our minds & the planet. The world needs to stop this manipulation & denial, & invest in a global counter movement for truth. The truth of existential risks on our watch. Truth of sustainability as the only route to prosperity & equity https://t.co/c9SUBIDd49

Climate skeptics LOVE to post the chart shared by David below👇 - supposedly showing no correlation between CO2 and temperature over the last 600 million years! But... if you only knew the history of the chart (which we shall henceforth call 'the Heib mash-up'), you see how
@CaptainAdvance1 @ryankatzrosene There’s no correlation between CO2 & temperature. While CO2 levels have been much higher in the past. As for your denialism comment, this highlights that the climate change theory is not science, but a religion. You MUST believe otherwise you’re a heretic.

My last tweet said this report is unserious. In fact, this report is a clear example of scientific fraud. Absolutely every single section is aimed at selling a narrative, and will find some angle to build up that narrative. It ignores well known objections to almost all of their

AMOC collapse could come sooner than expected With grateful thanks to lead author Prof Sybren Drijfhout This is the most important piece I have written & I am very proud of Yorkshire Bylines for putting this front and centre @YorksBylines

The AMOC collapse risk is much higher than thought—even a 25% chance of shutdown under low emissions. This current moves 100x the Amazon River. Would you cross a bridge with a 1-in-4 chance of collapse? Civilization is playing this game of risk currently https://t.co/XEjLVTpMVP

We’re filling the atmosphere with CO2 like a bathtub with water. Most of it stays for millennia. That is why the cumulative emissions (the total amount, as pictured here) and not yearly emissions determine the amount of #globalwarming.

Boosting these observations! The blue indicates decreased heat transport by the AMOC. Humans are overpowering the natural levers in the climate system and driving the mechanisms past tipping points/ over cliffs in which there is no return. While the AMOC will not immediately
The AMOC is already rapidly slowing down! A decrease of 0.5 PW represents ~16,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 joules per year! Data is very uncertain, which is why we need better observations. And we'd better assume and prepare for the worst.

In case you missed it, 2 major AMOC studies have come out in the past week. One from Stefan. They both find AMOC collapse is no longer a long shot, and is now likely in an emissions business as usual scenario -and- the tipping point (of no return) is likely very soon… just a

Here is a reminder that already last year 44 experts directed a powerful warning to policy makers about the risk of #AMOC shutdown. What more can we do to get heard? It’s like the saying that every disaster movie starts with scientists warning and being ignored.
44 experts from 15 countries issued a stark warning about the dangers of crossing an ocean circulation tipping point, in an open letter to the Nordic Council of Ministers. I had the honor to present it to the Icelandic 🇮🇸 climate minister Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson yesterday. #AMOC

Watching celebrities promoting films on the news as this barely makes a dent in anyone’s consciousness. We’re living in a deathwish culture.
I was shocked when I first saw these results from standard climate models used in IPCC reports: for high emissions, the Atlantic overturning circulation #AMOC shuts down in all 9 models that ran past 2100, and is well on the way to shutdown by 2100. Our paper is out today. 🧵

Bad enough in its own right, but.... "the true figures could be even worse, because the models did not include the torrent of meltwater from the Greenland ice cap that is also freshening the ocean waters" https://t.co/HlGQfxlfP8

"We found that the tipping point where the shutdown becomes inevitable is probably in the next 10 to 20 years or so. That is ... why we have to act really fast in cutting down emissions,” says PIK's @rahmstorf in @guardian's report on the new #AMOC study:
