Today was my most disheartening day as a golf course operator. Cutting greens this morning I found six divots from full swings on the greens. What motivates someone to take divots out of golf greens? I have no idea

Last year I was going to cut greens at 5 am but struggled sleeping so I got to the course at 2am. I got ready to go out & a car drives up. I'm a little nervous. Turns out it was my coworker Kirk Miller. He came to cut fairways because he couldn't sleep either. Kirk died today 🙏

This is Milo Debelski. He's worked for me almost 20 years as a shear operator. Today he sheared over 51,000 lbs of steel. 25 years ago he walked hundred's of miles to freedom in the Yugoslav wars with a shotgun blast in his leg. He turned 71 yesterday. Total respect for this man

Every US open Sunday I make my greens a little quicker. Think 7 1/2 to 10. Because we have small sloped greens & a lot of play, I have to keep the greens slow. But once a year, it's my turn. 7 1/2 to 10 might not seem like much, but it's fricking diabolical. I have fun with this

So Rory stayed at a friends house when he played at Olympia Fields. My friend filled the house with natural foods, lots of liquor, & good craft beers. When the week was over, he told us none of the food or liquor was touched but the garbage was full of empty Domino’s boxes

So my putter behaved badly yesterday with six 3 putts for an 82 in the opening round of a three day event. Went back to my hotel room on the fourth floor, dangled the putter over the edge of the balcony & had a heart-to-heart talk with it. Let's see how it does today

Back in 2017 I met Jaden Soong on a range. He was 6 years old with this swing. We hung out that day and had lots of range contests. Today at age 12, he is playing in the sectional qualifying of the U.S. Open. What a story.

My half brother died last Sunday. 13 years younger than me. His health had been poor but I didn’t think he would die. It hit me pretty hard. It hit my 94 yr old dad harder. Parents don’t want to bury their children. His name is Shawn Hegan and he was a very kind man.

Actually it's bent grass which is not native and must be cared for differently than other grasses. Also this is a putting surface that needs to be level. So I have to re-level the surface and I do it by pulling plugs from my nursery green. It's not like a divot in the fairway

I'm sick to my stomach today because a young guy, 19-21 yrs old, had his 30 yr old cousin in the cart as they played our course. He was fucking around, flipped the cart, and his cousin may lose his foot. Just a terrible tragedy that was 100% avoidable. The photo is too gruesome

Almost 50 yrs ago a crew of 8 guys decided to take a golf trip to Myrtle Beach. The next year they went back & had 16 guys. Eventually, the group reached 180. Now we're back to 40 or so descendants on an annual basis. None of the originals still go but the trip lives on 😎🏌🏾♂️☀️

I played in a tournament once where they did this shit. Par 3 hole, waited over an hour for six groups on the tee. I hit it 15 feet from the hole on my first shot and made a 10. That included two balls that rolled off the green into water...10th hole Lake Hills, St John IN

When we hire convicted felons, we have learned thru yrs of experience to only let them make enough $ to live and not indulge in any drugs or alcohol. We defer their earnings so pay $14/hr with $3/hr deferred. Have intervals or goals where they receive the deferred $. It works
