This is an historic photo. Congratulations to William Brame (who took the photo) for realising this was a different white butterfly. Now confirmed by @chrisvanswaay as a Southern Small White - the first seen in England. As it is a female let's hope it has been laying eggs.

Deeply saddened to hear of so many redundancies at @savebutterflies, most in front line butterfly+moth conservation. A huge loss of expertise just when needed. Also cessation of international work. Letβs hope their finances recover soon when so many species are in dire trouble
