Very grateful to @ProgrammeSpark for the opportunity to pitch our idea of introducing virtual reality as another OT tool in critical care and beyond! Benefits include reduced anxiety, distress and pain as well as opportunities for functional rehab.

Prof Collins as always an advocate for stroke services and HSCPs has a lot to say about the HSE recruitment freeze. When is this madness going to end? Patient suffer, staff suffer, staff burnout, patients suffer more.
PLEASE LISTEN 𧡠This is Prof Ronan Collins @ronancollins7 (National Clinical Lead Stroke) scathing criticism of Dept of Health/@HSELive treatment of 850,000 people in Ireland living with neurology/neurodegenerative conditions and the moratorium on recruitment β¦

On the day where we should be proud to work as HSCPs it is difficult to see past the devastating impact of the embargo on public services, waiting lists and staff morale and wellbeing. Some HSCP departments at 45% staffing, some completely decimated. Something's gotta give π
On #HSCPDay2024 AOTI along with our colleagues in the HSCP Alliance are calling for the Government and the HSE to lift the recruitment embargo. Read our full statement here: https://t.co/GQAG8lQ0ce

What an incredible 2 days at the European #lifeafterstroke conference....so many take homes and areas for improvement but for me, the unmet mental health needs of our stroke survivors was the most striking. We can, and must do better at recognising and treating. #ELASF2024

The care for women with #gestationaldiabetes in @saoltagroup @uniofgalway is outstanding and this new research will mean that exceptional care is transferable internationally. Congratulations @FidelmaDunne....incredibly important research for mums, babies and public health β€οΈ
π€°π¬New hope arises for pregnant women grappling with gestational diabetes, thanks to a new study led by Professor @FidelmaDunne at University of Galway! The EMERGE Clinical Trial, involving over 500 expectant mothers, scrutinised the efficacy and safety of the drug Metformin,

I've been a long time thinking about writing this piece, I'm hoping it contributes to important discussions we need to have about infant feeding & perinatal supports @lalecheleague @LaLecheIreland @DrHollysMum @LittleDoctorVic @DrSofiaR @milkymedics @DeiseDietitian

Just for clarity, I'm not interested in name calling, changing the station doesn't fix the problem. I simply think a mother has the right to feed her child and not be mocked for it on national radio. We need education, awareness and acceptance of normal, healthy infant feeding.

I'm not easily offended and I love a good joke but I found this incredibly disrespectful. If someone answered the door with a baby and a bottle nobody would bat an eyelid. Just shows the incredible paucity of education on breastfeeding in the general public @LaLecheIreland

Hi @RTE2fm just listening to @the2johnnies who read a text from a @dpdireland driver who was shocked by a woman who answered the door while breastfeeding her child 'without a care in the world', presumably in her own home. Just wondering what exactly was so shocking or funny?

Finally someone talking a bit of sense! No rehab beds, no day services, huge recruitment issues for HSCPs, no home care, no step down facilities - the problem isn't getting people into hospitals, it's getting them out safely and with appropriate supports preventing re-admission.
Wasn't going to comment on the annual media frenzy in Ireland on the rolling health crisis but the amount of rubbish from so-called experts and politicians gives me no choice. A short 𧡠1/

I have only been working in ESD for 6 months but it is beyond doubt the most rewarding OT role I have ever had. Delighted to hear of the national expansion of ESD services improving outcomes for patients across the country ππ₯³
1/ Our huge thanks to the #IGS2022 for enabling @SineadAColeman and I to share the story of Stroke Early Supported Discharge in Ireland in 2020 & 2021, and to explain the GREAT changes ahead as part of the HSE stroke strategy π§΅
