20 years after the US and UK invasion of Iraq, there is still no accountability for many war crimes committed by UK forces against Iraqis. The ICC Prosecutor's office found evidence of rape, killing and torture by UK forces of hundreds of detainees.

Victory! The UK govt finally says it will be excluding war crimes from its Bill that will create a presumption against prosecution of some crimes. Extraordinary work by many to get the govt to back down. But also extraordinary that they tried to block prosecutions of war crimes.

Last year @hrw sent UK minister @trussliz a 172 page letter with our findings of unlawful attacks by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. Yesterday, she claimed such violations were ‘isolated’ incidents, when trying to restart UK arms sales to Saudi Arabia

The @IntlCrimCourt ruling today confirms it has jurisdiction over war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, since 2015. Individuals suspected of these crimes can be prosecuted at the court.

#Peterloo2019 200 years ago today in Manchester, England, peaceful protesters demanding the vote were massacred. The UK government followed up with its Six Acts, a blueprint for political repression. The Act tried to ban meetings & free speech and make it easy to lock people up.

Wonderful to be back in Sarajevo on the 10th anniversary of a case I helped litigate at the European human rights court. The case ruled that the Bosnian constitution’s exclusion of Jews and Roma the highest political offices was unlawful discrimination. @hrw @MinorityRights

I have a copy of the @abcnews internal memo the @australian was referring to. It's very concerning the ABC does not accurately explain apartheid as a legal term. While reporters not banned from attributing it to others, I believe this has led to self-censorship & misunderstanding
