Exactly this. The climate deniers and those who are arguing 'economy' over 'planet', can do so because they will not be around to suffer the consequences.
Two billion kids would REALLY appreciate it if we did more about this than just make a few non-binding promises every year & then instantly forget about them. #COP30

Compare and contrast the language. £3,750 EV grant on a £35k car: ‘helping families’. Cycle to Work: ‘subsidising leisure’. And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. It’s almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.

Here’s something really important for everyone to understand. If we design our cities for cars only, they fail everyone, including drivers. If we design our cities with many great CHOICES in how to get around, they work better for everyone, including drivers. Spread the word.

We've been down on the beach today picking up firework debris. It's odd, isn't it, that you can be fined £250 for dropping litter but somehow it's OK to launch rockets containing plastic casings into the sky.

It's a goal of mine to help make this the most famous, well-known and UNDERSTOOD quote about cities in history. Please share it as much as you can.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is now 1.6 million km²—twice the size of Texas—with 1.8 trillion plastic pieces, outweighing surface fish 6 to 1.

If a city makes it easy for people to ride bikes around town, then people will ride bikes around town. Here's a look at bicycle traffic in Paris:

Making it slightly easier for people to travel by any other method than car is not a "crackdown on mobility".
The crackdown on cars and people's mobility has been decided outside democracy at a higher level. Councils are following orders from above, which is why they ignore public opposition to these policies.

“Owning a car does not give you the right to take up public space.” When Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Lores was elected on a car-free platform in 1999, he wasted no time. The city was in severe decline, with pollution, health, safety, and livability all trending the wrong direction.🧵

Fatal mistake is to see every single thing through the lense of left or right. Acknowledging the laws of physics does not make you left wing. #heatwave

If you build safe, segregated cycling infrastructure, you’ll never have to ‘encourage’ people to cycle again with pointless ‘national cycling week’ campaigns that don’t address the main cause of not cycling - the absence of safe, segregated cycling infrastructure.
Something strange is happening in Chiswick. A lot of the people who I was told don’t and won’t cycle appear to be cycling when safe infrastructure has been installed. 🤗

Believe me Julie, we know how hated we are. People shout at us, swear at us, and nearly drive into us every day- from the front, from the back, from the side.
