My daughter was good at swimming, but got to a point that she was not learning new skills, and I as a single working poor parent was only paying for stroke correction. Too expensive to continue, so she dropped out.
I'm sure I'm not the only parent who stopped for this reason.

The reason I am picky, is because I was made to sit & eat foods I did not like. If I did not eat them, I was made to sit there until it was eaten. This resulted in a crying child, and a yelling parent. All because of food. Choose your battles I say.

As a DV survivor, you know what would help more? Allowing those of us with kids to move far away from the perpetrator, and not allowing the family court to make DV survivor children have to interact with the DV parent?
Why does Family Court order trump FVOs!? Make it make sense.

I feel like this happens almost exclusively to the eldest child of the family, almost by accident.
They have less freedoms, more responsibility, and often have to do more chores & child minding, and expected to 'set a good example' to their younger siblings.

One of the many downfalls of the Australian legal system - more damage to the victim having to re-live events.
And when it ends in a hung jury etc, and re-trial has to occur, it starts again from scratch. More pressure, added trauma, depression.

I just stay home a lot, and avoid people.
My ex broke in and tried to kill me in my own bed though. If it weren't for my brave daughter, I'd be dead. He was sentenced to 4.5 years, and served 2.5 years.
Thankfully the kids & I don't have to see him ever again.
