Why are so many of our gifted young clergy leaving the church? I’ve heard so many stories about curacies that have gone wrong 😢 This is @AliceGoodman17 reflecting on hers in @prospect_uk 👇 https://t.co/4s1KG4hGMU

I think what’s most interesting about this is the way it is reported. An avowedly secular newspaper, which I think even 10 years ago would have not bothered or done so with a sneer, now reports a change in RC doctrine as proper news. Something has shifted.

I don’t think anything else- in the charity sector or the state- produces this sort of rate of social return. If, as some fear, we are on a precipice and about to follow the tragic example of Scotland re our places of worship, then the social effect will be cataclysmic.
For every £1 that's invested in a church building, £16 of social value is created. Capture and showcase the value your church brings to its community in under 30 minutes using our free tool - The House of Good: Local calculator: https://t.co/NigyGmXqns 📸 © Ness Bank Church

‘William doubts that God exists. How can he go through with a coronation in Westminster Abbey without acknowledging that God has put him there, on the throne?’ Actually an interesting discussion! (faith, doubt, the sacramental)

Have written about the language used to publicly promote the enthronement/installation of an Archbishop in @spectator The service will likely look similar regardless of its label - but I want us to be proud of history, ceremony & traditions of our church https://t.co/Nv8xcW8t04

Interesting shift of language - from enthronement to installation - Justin Welby was enthroned as Archbishop of Canterbury in 2013 - Stephen Cottrell was enthroned as Archbishop of York in 2020 +Sarah will be installed

I am grateful to you and others who were outraged on my behalf. Thanks to all of you the information was corrected before I was aware of the fact my team @UKinHolySee and I had been erased! By @BBCr4today of all programmes, in one of the busiest weeks of our lives!
With apologies to D. McCulloch who has just said on radio4 that uk no longer has an ambassador to Holy See. I hesitate to go against DM who knows more on this than I do. But I thought we did have an ambassador — Christopher Trott

Having followed the work of ARCIC for a long time & more recently become the first Anglican non-executive director of @The_Tablet this morning is bringing me so much joy
This is a wonderful show of Christian Unity. The Head of the Roman Catholic Church, the Supreme Governor of the Church of England; the choirs of the Chapel Royal and the Sistine Chapel; the Archbishop of York assisting the Pope in leading the service. It’s really very powerful.

The martyrdom of our Nigerian brothers and sisters is terrible to watch.
Nigeria: Her Christian husband and two children, aged 3 years and 10 months, were slaughtered by Islamists right in front of her. She and her only surviving child, aged 7, were left for dead, and her hand was chopped off. The Persecuted Church in Nigeria needs all of us.
