I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining Purdue University as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Economics! I feel very fortunate to be an academic and can't wait to teach, as well as continue conducting research at a place with such a rich history in Experimental Econ.

🚨 New working paper! How well do people predict the results of studies? @sdellavi and I leverage data from the first 100 studies to have been posted on the SSPP, containing 1,482 key questions, on which over 50,000 forecasts were placed. Some surprising results below.... 🧵👇

Starting at 1:40 of the Dylan interview in the reply (which I highly suggest you watch all of), "Do you ever look back at music you've written and say, whoa, that surprised me." "I used to, but I don't do that anymore...I don't know how...those songs were almost magically
There is a devastating 60 Minutes interview where an elderly Bob Dylan is asked how he wrote the songs of his early 20s, and he is just anguished when he explains that he doesn't know how any more, if he did, he would

I suppose this reply is another bit of job market advice. Before you try to max on prestige, think really hard about your priorities in life. This of course applies to more than academic jobs
@chadmaximusjr I’m glad you like the slides. I think trying to max on prestige is often a mistake. I feel very fortunate that I could land a good paying, tenured, 2-2 position and also live near my family. I turned down more prestigious positions in the US to do this, and I’ve no regrets.

Was glad to see that @ALeighMP's review of 'If Anyone Builds it Everyone Dies' was in The Age today (mainstream paper in Australia). https://t.co/AEpRiP9KUV

Experiments have shown AIs are surprisingly adept at persuading or bribing humans to do their bidding.

What is the best book/podcast/article to convince me that space is cool or interesting? It is likely a lack of exposure and not a character flaw that I find it so interminably boring. Or maybe next time someone is going, I could tag along.

Your skepticism resonates, @BrianCAlbrecht. In survey work with Julio Elias & Nicola Lacetera (“Is the Price Right?”) we find that when you make the trade-offs explicit (caps risk shortages, letting prices adjust to demand and supply encourages new supply) people do update and
I guess if you are going to shoot yourself in the foot, it’s good to have bandages nearby. There’s a role for doctors to remind foot shooters of that. But you could also just, you know, try to persuade people to not shoot themselves in the foot. I’ll stick with the latter

I’m on the job market this year, and this is my JMP studying how workers’ image concerns can significantly reduce AI adoption. Really appreciate you sharing it, @emollick!
Here's how you get Secret Cyborgs: Cool experiment shows when workers know their AI use is seen by HR, they use it less, even though it significantly hurts their performance. Workers are willing to be wrong just to signal judgement. A challenge for leaders who want AI adoption.

I'm on the #EconJobMarket!🥳 My research examines how childhood trauma from violence shapes household violence in adulthood. My #EconJMP asks: How do trauma histories interact with their partners' experiences to shape intimate partner violence and violence against children? 🧵
