We’re getting dangerous guns off our streets with a national buyback. Right now, there are more guns in Australia than there were during Port Arthur. Tougher gun laws aren’t the whole answer, but we will do everything it takes to keep Australians safe.

There is no place for antisemitism in Australia. The violence and hatred we saw in Bondi on Sunday night is an evil scourge and we will eradicate it. That’s why we’re bringing in new laws to protect Jewish Australians and crack down on hate, division & radicalisation.

Australians are looking for ways to help after the Bondi attack. If you’re donating, take a moment to check the ACNC Charity Register. It’s the best way to ensure your generosity reaches a registered, accountable charity. More guidance from @ACNC_gov_au:

This is much more like an addictive television than an engaging telephone. And the way in which we are putting in place these minimum age laws is supported across the parliament and across the community. It will do good and it will save lives.
As @JonHaidt notes, our kids risk losing their childhoods to social media apps powered by addictive algorithms. From December, social media platforms must stop Australians under 16 from signing up. A world first for online safety. Learn more: https://t.co/PsR0f6OFyM

We’re working to make it easier for people to leave a coerced directorship and properly penalise perpetrators who sign people as directors without their consent. It's a matter of economic and social justice. This report sets out why: https://t.co/nH3vLCccht

Good chat with ABC TV on cost-of-living relief and keeping the economy on a steady footing. Wholesale power prices are falling, bulk-billing is rising, and real wages are growing – with more work ahead to keep pressure off household budgets. https://t.co/xuIBPwOglW

The mass rollout of social media coincided with a sharp drop in the mental wellbeing of young Australians. These figures are from my article with Steve Robson: https://t.co/hGUY9qgluh Childhood should be rich in friends, sport and imagination – not algorithms. #auspol

Social media has reshaped childhood faster than our laws have kept up. Setting a minimum age of 16 is about drawing a clear boundary around childhood and mental health. The stakes are high. My interview on ABC Canberra: https://t.co/gxtr3eHLhw
