Today marks the start of my 25th year on the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy faculty! I am deeply grateful to this institution, which has steadfastly supported my work and helped me thrive intellectually, professionally, and personally.

Deeply saddened to learn of Sara McLanahan’s passing. Growing up in Madison I had no idea what an incredible scholar she was, as most of my time at her and Irv’s house on Chadbourne Ave. was spent in the basement watching MTV with Anna Bell 1/n
Gutted at the loss of my mentor Sara McLanahan. She had a profound impact on my career of course - but perhaps her best legacy is the network of scholars she mentored and inspired, who support each other and now mentor many others.
