So how do we explain libertarianism to normies (left, right and center) in a manner that makes it sound appealing to them?

AGI is becoming the center of a new Cold War. Export controls are tightening. Countries are racing to build AI powerhouses in the Middle East. Hassabis warns: "We're all in this together" - but cooperation is getting harder.

Scholars are or ought to be theorists. For all other academic tasks, AI can do it. Per argues that we should let it. Some very compelling thoughts here. Our field seems to be at a precipice of disruption. We will need to do science differently. To train our PhD students

Was speaking with a reporter today who relayed a dairy farmer’s assertion that supply management should remain unchanged. My response? "How does one wean a long-term drug addict off their dependency?"

Mick Jagger has signed a petition opposing a plan that would provide affordable homes for at least 190 people because it would spoil his view from the other side of the river We can't afford a system that lets anything from rockstars to rare spiders block new development

This is excellent. I haven’t felt more optimistic about this govt than I do today. Nuclear is the only way to get energy prices down - it could be cheaper than coal if we regulated it properly. But that means making it fast and easy to build. I now think this govt might do it.

We were once a world pioneer in new nuclear - and we can be again. More jobs, cheaper energy, and more pounds in your pocket. That's the difference a Labour government makes. https://t.co/ropZqdettv

Oxfam joins the display of mindless illiteracy with which leftist activists discuss impact of the British Raj. In a report called “Takers not Makers”, they claim that imperialist Britain “extracted” 85 tr $ from India, adding for drama, “enough to carpet London with 50£ notes”.

Our paper raises, but does not answer the question, of whether a leader's social class background influences how they use historical references in their speeches. 4/n

We demonstrate statistically significantly differences in the nature of the historical arguments used by male and female Remainer MPs and peers. We also tested whether Oxbridge-educated politicians talk about history than other politicians. 2/n

My new article with @mscole18 and @AnselmKuesters is about Brexit. At the time, many journalists observed that debates about Brexit were replete with historical references. Our paper presents the first statistical analysis of how history was used. 1/n
