And Polly's here . Not sure "doctors LITERALLY have blood on their hands - that's their job" is much of a slam dunk insult to my piece.

The BMA’s demand for pay restoration is a slap in the face for the health secretary who gave them a 22% rise – and it’s testing the public’s sympathy, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

Unexpected honour of my life to be quoted (however anonymously & disapprovingly) by @pollytoynbee . Even she says the BMA are "damaging sympathy for doctors", who enjoy a "steep annual trajectory" on pay and have lost the backing of the public

Everyone in politics should read more fiction!. But here's a few things fellow Conservatives might enjoy:.- The Mark & the Void, Paul Murray.- A Month in the Country, JL Carr.- Money, Martin Amis.- Middlemarch, George Eliot.- A Handful of Dust, Evelyn Waugh. What are your faves?.
'. the Waverley novels, which are covered by @cjscalia in his book, [as Kirk put it]“carried Burke’s ideas” to a much wider audience because fiction has a greater market than non-fiction works, such as political pamphlets.' @TheCriticBooks, @TheCriticMag.

In the private sector, pay is determined by demand, performance and resources within a company. Why should a doctor in 2025 be employed on the exact same terms as one in 2008?. Only a socialist could believe there was centrally determined level of pay an employee is entitled to.
As Britain's 'resident doctors' went on strike, @alysdenby pointed out that not only is the BMA blackmailing the Government, but that the entire concept of pay restoration is flawed .
