What causes #poverty? Nothing. It's the original state, the default and starting point. The real question is, What causes #prosperity?.

Value is satisfaction attained/experienced through the use of means (consumption). Consumers acquire goods for their expected value; purchases are based on their ranking of alternatives. Those alternatives are produced by entrepreneurs speculating on the value they facilitate.

The only ones who should have a say in so-called trade policy are those who bear the cost of it. Everybody else who has opinions have no skin in the game.

Trade that is not subject to, meaning caused or determined by, coercion (compulsion) or deception (fraud), is the result of both parties expecting to gain. Any voluntary exchange, therefore, is necessarily good from the perspective of the exchangers.

This claim is much less impressive. From an Austrian perspective, this is not "counterintuitive" but rather obvious:. "the Prosperity Paradox. It may sound counterintuitive, but our research suggests that ensuring prosperity for many countries will not come from fixing poverty.

Imagine lying about having read the article making the argument that is being discussed, feigning offense when that lie is pointed out, and then immediately ask what the argument is. .

@MegasAlex2000 @StephanieKelton Fascinating that you can pretend to have read the argument (article) yet still ask me what it is. I'll be here if you want to discuss what is in the article. But you have to read it first. I wrote it to make it available for people like you.

This little book, with a boring title, has received very little attention (or love). But the argument is actually quite radical. The obvious conclusion is that we need a new economics--and a new understanding of economic growth.
