Updated 🇪🇺 Commission agenda is now online. 📅2040 targets — with an interesting “s” — confirmed for 2/07. But no news on the Russian energy package expected in June.

Russian natural gas flows to Europe via Ukraine stopped on Jan. 1, 2025, as a key transit contract expired. Europe will have to draw even more heavily on its gas stockpiles for the rest of the winter. Gas prices are at a 14-month high of ~€50 per MWh. https://t.co/OFTll1Ki4g

Regulatory policies that restrict fossil heating are still being newly introduced in a few places in Europe. Today Slovenia, Brussels and Flanders join 🇩🇪 , 🇦🇹, 🇫🇷, 🇱🇺, 🇩🇰 and 🇮🇪 with rules that restrict fossil heating via rules for new construction or connections.

Love this-- Geothermal is only 0.3% of global electricity today, and rises to only 0.6% by 2050 on "current policies". But IEA show that it **could** be 15% of global electricity by 2050 **if** there are major innovations and cost reductions. Very recommended reading👍

Eurozone industrial production was flat in October but excluding Ireland's large jump, it dropped 0.5% m/m with the index at the lowest level in years outside of the pandemic. Not a good start to Q4. The @ecb's policy easing cannot be quick enough for Europe's battered industry.

Cost of electricity relative to fossil fuels is key factor when it comes to industrial electrification. In most EU countries electricity is taxed more & renewables support levies are often put on electricity & not on fossil fuels. See our new report👇 https://t.co/BNsZbHfLcD
