Strong opinions, loosely held. Largely disappointed with the progress of digital transformation. There's more we can do. See: https://t.co/m3LG5SRBmN

Merry Christmas from everyone at the Royal Parks Half. Whether you're planning a frosty 5km or just a mince pie relay to the kitchen and back, we hope you have a fabulous day celebrating and enjoy the festive season. 🎄🧡

It was a special night for all at @computerweekly to receive the British Journalism Awards Campaign of the Year ahead of the incredible campaigning journalism of a slew of national newspapers. Thank you @pressgazette. But another award yesterday was far more important... (1/2)

Totally deserved. Well done!
Still trying to get my head around this today - very honoured, huge thanks to everyone involved, and most of all to my brilliant @ComputerWeekly team, without whom this would not have happened. Team, this one's for all of us...

First time not there in a while. Congratulations to all who raced and all who made London’s best race happen! Hope to get a place next year.
What an unforgettable day at the Royal Parks Half! 🧡 Today was all about YOU - the runners, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who made this day so amazing. You’ve all helped make this race day one to remember. Fancy joining us next year? Click here! https://t.co/bQRE2F0Zfp

If I remember rightly, this was Jory Bell’s work, who went on to found Oqo, the earliest maker of true handheld PCs
In 2002, Apple filed a patent for pulsing LED lights on a Macbook laptop and the feature description was next level: “the LED light mimics the rhythm of breathing, which is psychologically appealing." You can literally patent anything.

Where “satisfied with progress” means we have no clue when or if it will ever deliver nor how much it will cost or on what basis we might decide to scrap it and think again.
Last week, @computerweekly revealed the Post Office Horizon replacement project is running 5 years late, ÂŁ800m over budget and labelled "unachievable" - The day before, PO execs including CEO Nick Read told @voiceofthePM and @NFSP_UK they were "satisfied with progress"...

I may be biased - I’m working on this. Great to see positive, comprehensive coverage of Anglesey Freeport.
🚨🚨I went to Anglesey Freeport, part of @michaelgove’s “unfinished cathedral” of levelling up…you can see that freeports make sense locally, as economic place-making tools, even if OBR says they’ll make no odds nationally/1 https://t.co/3JfYTwtXcj

As bankrupt local authority slashes services and hikes taxes, consultants enjoy ÂŁ1k-a-day while system still can't offer auditable accounts

“Captivating” … just not in the sense we normally understand that word. I’m with Sharon on this one.
Hell’s teeth. Who on earth thought this patronising, misogynist guff was an appropriate way to communicate? https://t.co/PvIHY9qfCy

No one deserves more than Brett Graham. The team he put together has outperformed for years. If there were 4 stars, he would deserve those too.
Three MICHELIN Stars are awarded to The Ledbury! This highest of gastronomic honours is thoroughly deserved, with the Inspectors having been impressed by every aspect of the cooking #NottingHill #MICHELINGuideGBI #3MICHELINStars

🚨Exciting news 🚨 The wine world has been lacking awards for wine communicators for a few years now. I’d encourage all content creators - be that written, audio or video - to enter the shiny new #67awards

There’s never just 1 person - take a look at Feynman on Challenger ( https://t.co/Phybae3Yfp). Decisions were made at various levels, seniors didn’t want to delay (>cost, maybe client wouldn’t cover it), few understood the problems & risks. No one put their head above the parapet

How Nasa managers' lack of understanding over the concept of risk led to the Challenger disaster.
I'd get bothered if the Telegraph and others started scapegoating Fujitsu's 'IT Architect'. I've run a number of IT programmes and they are complex beasts at the best of times. Small thread.... /1

Exactly
Jumped before she was pushed, no doubt - but this is still a bit of a red herring. The CBE is a lightning rod - a way for people to express their anger - but it changes nothing. We still need her to face proper accountability for decisions taken on her watch #PostOfficeScandal

And to me too … you’re so right. What does this mean for San Francisco (Uhoh), london (tbd) …

*THREAD* The Post office was ordered to pay nearly ÂŁ60 million in compensation to 555 victims But astronomical legal costs meant that hundreds of sub-postmasters still remain out of pocket and a lot have died before receiving justice. #PostOfficeScandal
