Max Planck Research Group Leader at MPI for Molecular Genetics, Berlin. Passionate about RNA, transposons & evolution Past: Postdoc @mpi_ie and PhD @embl
Berlin, Germany
Joined April 2012
We wrote a review on Transposable Elements (TEs) and almost all aspects of TE silencing and their roles in biological processes & disease. With such a large scope you need excellent partners, so we are happy to have teamed up with @zz_zhaozhang & @VyxPhd .

This meeting looks very interesting, so don't miss the abstract submission deadline. Suzhou is indeed a beautiful location. I was there in April for the CSHA transposon meeting, as you can see my photo visiting Yogita's (from @JakobssonLab ) poster used as a cover image here 😅.
Join @LenPennacchio, @ZhipingWeng, @xielablife, me and all speakers in beautiful Suzhou, China for this year's CSH Asia Systems Biology of Gene Regulation & Genome Editing meeting, Oct 20-24. Let's bring the international communities together! Abstract deadline Sept 5! More infos

Congratulations, Yaotian and all the authors🥳.We are delighted to be part of this impressive work.
What controls condensate composition and function beyond binding stoichiometry? We show that condensate microenvironments play a key role, and can be probed by a micropeptide killswitch in live cells. out now in @Nature with @henri_niskanen @dhnisz & team.

I'm very proud of you, Yusuke, and I'm looking forward to the cool discoveries we will make together.
Congrats to Yusuke Kijima from the @_taktas_ lab on his Postdoc Fellowship by @EMBO! Based on a recent discovery from the lab published in @Nature, his project will investigate the molecular machinery of a novel pathway that silences transposon expression.

The poll is over, and there is a clear answer here, with the majority saying: "Yes, it makes a significant difference to have a more modern lab website.".
I had a recent conversation with the people in the lab, and I wonder what the hive mind would think 🤔 Does having a "cool" lab website increase the chances of good scientists applying to that lab? (You can also comment).

Congratulations @Maxistoe et al. When Maxi started working on this project, he wanted to determine RNA targets of TETs and we offered our help. I have never seen someone master a technique so quickly and execute all the experiments in such a short time. Every lab needs a Maxi 😉.
How do embryos and ESCs safeguard pluripotency throughout a state of dormancy? A great collaborative effort of the @bulutkarslioglu -lab & the.@MPI_MolGen involving @helenekretzmer @AbhiSampKumar @_taktas_ @VvdWeijden & many more.
