We’re just getting started 👊🌹 Delighted to be re-selected alongside Marcela in Brentford East next May
Delighted to be selected as a Labour candidate for Brentford East with Cllr Max Mosley! Brentford is where I’ve chosen to live, and I’ll work hard to represent our community with the Labour values of fairness, equality and hope. Thank you Cllr Marina Sharma for your support 🌹

New blog post! The two-child benefit cap is cruel and has failed on its own misguided terms. It should be abolished. This should be funded by scrapping the State Pension Triple Lock. Link to follow

One of the most dangerous lies sold in recent years is the idea that you can cut support for struggling people to push them into work. It’s entirely untrue and only serves to justify balancing the books on the backs of the poorest people
"The culture of something for nothing must end now." Shadow chancellor Sir Mel Stride sets out how the Conservatives would reduce the benefits bill by £23 billion through changes to mental health support and entitlement for non-UK citizens. https://t.co/G8gDzyqv3Q 📺 Sky 501

I spoke to @charlotterlynch on @LBCNews about the Tories plan to repeat the same mistakes that drove up child poverty the last time 👇

Thank you to everyone who donated to my London to Brighton ride 🚴 It was certainly challenging but I had a great time and raised over £450 for my local charity @BrentfordFCCST 🐝
I bought my first bike the other week, now I'm signed up to ride from London to Brighton this month to raise money for @BrentfordFCCST. Wild idea? Yes. For a good cause? Absolutely. Please consider donating below 🐝 https://t.co/mCgYXaYSG8

Well done @_maxmosley, spot on! We need councillors everywhere saying this. Blocking homes because a leafy suburb might see them half a mile away isn’t protecting the country — it’s holding it back. Housing needs > tired excuses.

We need people saying this on every council in the country. Blocking homes because, in this case, someone might see them from a leafy neighbourhood half a mile away is not looking after the best interests of this country. The need must be louder than the excuses.

My first remarks to the House of Commons as Exchequer Secretary to @hmtreasury. We're lifting the burden of the cost of living crisis, backing those who want to invest in the future of this country, and helping everyday families. This is what I fought for on the backbenches.

@_maxmosley This is the most powerful tone of voice a middle class man can use. When a fella with a home counties drawl whips out this speech cadence you are obliterated and there's no coming back.

"When PFI projects failed it carried devastating consequences, from huge costs levied on hospitals, to state-of-the-art schools having to close down." @_maxmosley spoke to @guardian about the prospect of a repeat of the PFI disasters of recent decades. https://t.co/l9ZIsxuHfE

The Office for Budget Responsibility has hardwired austerity into British fiscal policymaking. It is an independent institution with too much power and too little democratic scrutiny. It must go. My new report @NEF suggests what should replace it Thread ⬇️

I wrote for @NewStatesman about tax wars, the scaremongering of fleeing millionaires, and non-doms. If you think the debate is toxic now, just wait until we need *real* tax reform...
The British “wealth exodus” is a big fat myth, and this government is in danger of falling for it – hook, line, and sinker: https://t.co/sGG0oSAsad

It’s so frustrating so see people with big profiles push this myth that you can just say you have ADHD and get given PIP A 10 second google shows the system scores based on need. Our welfare state *IS* literally built to assess who with ADHD needs support and who doesn’t
Every single person in Britain could be diagnosed with *something* if you tried hard enough. Our welfare system isn’t built for this.

Interesting how those on the right/Conservatives are normally incredibly keen on people working hard and making their fortune from nothing, but they also think you should be able to inherit money with zero tax
What I don’t get with Inheritance Tax is that you’ve already paid tax on what you’ve earned over the years so why when you die the person who receives that money has to then pay tax on it again? Why? This doesn’t seem right or fair.
