New paper published in @HarvardRevPsych ! Like psychedelics, antidepressants are neuroplastic agents and we discuss the importance of the therapeutic relationship - including relational templates - on psychiatric outcomes.
From SSRIs to psychedelics, therapeutic context is emerging as a powerful co-determinant of outcome. This piece reframes prescribing as a relational, not just pharmacologic, intervention.

Yup, this @hubermanlab clip demonstrates that quite nicely, tho donāt see a reason to disparage other therapies (one size does not fit all and they fill a gap psychoanalysis has failed to). Psychoanalytic thinking though should be recognized as the generative seed.
Amazing how often psychoanalytic ideas get rebranded and repackagedāin watered down, hokey packagingāand the same people who disparage psychoanalysis think itās a new breakthrough and canāt get enough of it š¤.

Itās been six months since I left my job as a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon to dedicate myself full time to the psilocybin ecosystem unfolding here in Oregon. I was asked if I miss the old job, and the honest answer is - not really. I loved maybe 10% of what I was doing before.
