1/ One of most important things I've learned: Severe personality problems find *camouflage.* No one thinks âIâm a sadistâ or âI'm a malignant narcissist.â They find a belief system/social group that validates their most hateful, destructive impulses & construes them as virtues.

There is no such thing as a âtherapist/coach.â A competent psychotherapist is not a coach and doesnât act like one.
My two cents on how to find a great therapist/coach: 1. Find one that makes a huge difference in the first session. 2. Don't stop looking until you find one who does that.

2/ While on the topic, âtherapistâ is not a professional credential or title. Anyone can call themselves a âtherapistââit means nothing There are many different MH licenses (with very different levels of training). People with legit licenses are ethically required to DISCLOSE

Dear AI companies, An AI chatbot must NEVER pretend it's not an AI chatbot. There is no level of creative or satirical freedom that should allow that. *By the way, not only should this be legally prohibited, but it should be a screening test for stricter regulatory scrutiny.

"Your feelings are in no way a reliable guide to what is or isnât true in reality. They are not a reliable guide to whatâs true about anyone else. Feeling strongly about something does not make it more true".
Iâm not sure when people started using the word âvalidâ to describe feelings. Itâs not clear what the phrase âYour feelings are validâ could even mean. Letâs bring a little clarity about what feelings are, and are not. â
Your feeling are feelings. Theyâre not right or wrong,

This kind of referral request is a huge đ© 1. The patientâs treatment needs canât be known in advance 2. The person posting the referral assumes no responsibility for the patientâs care Butâtheyâre already trying to make clinical treatment decisions đ©đ©đ©đ©đ©đ©đ©
Nowadays if I see an email come through a listserv that's says "ISO trauma therapist..." or "ISO therapist trained in parts work" I hit delete immediately.

Absolutely this! This is what psychotherapy does (without labels) when working with a whole, complex human being. What bothers and worries me is that the labeling implies a separateness that is not real, as if the one thread matters more than the full tapestry.
It bothers me when people speak of trauma work, shadow work, family of origin work, parts work, etc like theyâre separate things or special skills Itâs psychotherapy. The issues people bring donât come in separate packages. We must work with what arises & have the skill to do it
