2/ - These seed heads also ID'd as "Field Sowthistles", same spot beside our driveway, but a couple weeks earlier than above... - Waist high, there too, Gemini thinks "Pearly Everlasting" (Anaphalis triplinervis), but I don't trust it. It's been even more haphazard lately.

1/ #WeedsWednesday - PlantNet says not mere "dandelions"?!: - "Field Sowthistle"? With Common drone fly, exceeding it's name in appearance. - "Weedy Hawksbeard" (Crepis vesicaria), I thought a mutant dandelion! - Autumnal Hawkbit. #MEcfsEgress #BloomScrolling DailyNaturePics 168

8/ 2023 thread about NMDA and AMPA receptor function (and biohacking):
@Zenfrog4

The NMDA receptor is one of 2 main kinds of receptors activated by Glutamate (AMPA receptor being the other) Weak electrical stimulation of the presynaptic neuron causes the release of glutamate from the axon terminal. This glutamate binds to both AMPA and NMDA receptors.

6/ Post on using L-Theanine:
@Outdoctrination

L-Theanine therapeutic for anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD. The amino acid found in green tea exerts broadly protective effects in the brain: • Pro-dopamine - motivation • GABAnergic - relaxation • Increases BDNF - brain cell growth + differentiation • NMDA/AMPA antagonist -

5/ More detailed thread: https://t.co/oybyaLI25k - Japanese group developed AMPA binding tracer. - Density correlated vs cognitive impairment. - Higher inflammatory cytokine TNFSF12, lower CCL2, 100% sensitive, 91% specific. - Propose Perampanel (severe psychiatric risks).

1) 🇯🇵 Japanese researchers found that Long Covid patients have more glutamate AMPA receptors in the brain than controls using PET scans. This difference correlated with results of cognitive tests and various cytokines.

3/ Winding back to 1980 (before I was born) and 1987, respectively. Dad's photos (Pentax camera with a Sigma Lens, possibly). Only righty remains, flagging a bit, lefty chopped having taken up too much space together.

2/ Late May gusts, animating the foliage like I was pointing a giant leaf blower at them. - The Birch is next door's (tall one on the right). - The ever green, in the middle, is one of 2 that grew up with me...

2/ There's some skepticism about likely bias in the study:
@PatientPersists
Siebe.

The lead author of this study owns the patent on this specific tracer. They only looked for their specific receptors (glutamate subtype) without checking alternatives/the rest of the excitatory/inhibitory system This is confirmation bias + conflict of interest

Wow. This new study ties together glutamate and cognitive long covid @KatBoniface The researchers "demonstrated that increased index of AMPAR density in large parts of the brains of patients with Cog-LC compared with that in healthy controls" Systemic increase of AMPA receptors

Outlook was from the path just to the left of where this tractor was spraying (presumably weed killer, or fertiliser?) the other day. So perhaps not ideal.
