Turn 36 today & I’ve spent my entire thirties with #LongCovid. When I turned 30 I was biking to work 10 miles a day, & since my mild covid infection — I struggle to walk more than a block or work more than a few hours a week. Here’s 4 things I wish everyone knew:

People seem to have forgotten that, in the years before effective HIV treatments existed, many people lived and worked quite normally with HIV for a *long* time. Sometimes close to a decade.

Applies outside California too! Applies to "super" flu as well as other airborne infections. I can't believe that given the choice between simple precautions and influenza, so many choose the latter.

Traveling for the holidays? Stay well on your way by wearing a high-quality mask like an N95 in crowded indoor spaces like airports and planes. Also wash your hands frequently, cover your cough or sneeze, and avoid traveling if you’re sick. 📲 Learn more: https://t.co/RoiHMSVH92

6+ years now, and still, instead of acknowledging and protecting ourselves from what caused the trauma we're all "why is everything shit" and "won't somebody think of the economy".

How the fuck was everyone somehow convinced that the collective trauma experienced over the past 3+ years was due to remote work and masking and not, y'know, being abandoned to mass death and disablement in the name of unprecedented capital accumulation by the ultrawealthy?

So, to those who say "masks don't work", cite the flawed Cochrane report, insist upon an unfeasible RCT, accuse folks of panic, and undermine public health on social and mainstream media during a flu/RSV epidemic... 1. Seasonal viruses may be "normal", but they do immense harm.

🧵1️⃣ It’s UK Budget Day - so here’s a budget #RachelReeves hasn’t announced: a proper Long Covid Budget. We've estimated the real economic burden of Long Covid at £12-15 BILLION A YEAR. At a £ a minute that puts us back in 26,500 BC - the Late Upper Paleolithic 😳 #Budget2026

Wearing a mask in crowded indoor settings this fall can protect you and others from COVID-19, flu, and RSV, even if you don’t have symptoms. Well-fitting masks, like N95s, KN95s, or KF94s provide the best protection: https://t.co/GSNg7r7fQF

There has been a welcome fall in Covid infection levels in England. However, the risk level remains HIGH, and people should not even think of relaxing precautions. Around 1 in every 136 people in England were infected as of 26 October. https://t.co/Uhjygv1hVz
