Pesticides persist in soils for decades, not months. A study of 100 fields shows even after 20 years of organic management, soils contain up to 16 different pesticide compounds—disrupting microbial communities and undermining productivity long after application stops... 🧵

This is the mainstream, liberal version of climate and ecological action. No wonder it has been so successful.

It is important that the working class, with their low levels of education and uncontrolled passions, continue to be kept out of the debate about how to respond to climate change. These are the 5 key steps for achieving that. 1/6

You shouldn't be mad at @JustinTrudeau for going to see Taylor Swift, what you should be mad about is that he continues to uphold an undemocratic electoral system he promised to end.

#CO2 She did her best, but she couldn't run fast enough. Due to vast deforestation, Bolivia's per capita CO2 emissions are among the highest in the world - far exceeding the p.c CO2 emissions of the US. They trash forests to feed our insatiable demand for beef. But who cares?

What does it take to move 1000 people? Better infrastructure supporting mobility choices that don’t take up so much space (or produce so much emissions/pollution, cost so much public money, etc). Graphic via @SeattleSubway based on a Sydney graphic I spread around years ago.

people mistakenly believe that growth in renewable energy will automatically result in a decline in the use of fossil fuel, when all we are doing is encouraging the practice of endless energy on demand. the most direct way of addressing climate is reduce your energy footprint.
