How does Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites multiply so efficiently? Our review dives into the molecular choreography of endodyogeny—scaffolds, transcription factors, and cytoskeleton that enable parasite division. 👉 https://t.co/Xc642un7gY

Thrilled to have this out! Please go checkout our work👇 on the crazy Toxo #mitoribosome. A huge thanks and 🙌 to everyone involved in the study.
Remember learning that #ribosomes are made of 1 large subunit RNA + 1 small subunit RNA? Well, some cells defy this rule, and the most extreme case is #Toxoplasma which makes its mitoribosome from >50 RNA pieces! Wanna know how? Read the next comments.

Happy to have contributed a small part to this meaningful work!
The best way to start 2025: our latest work is out in #PLOSPathogens. It discusses ApiAP2 transcription factors and daughter cell assembly in T. gondii. A work spearheaded by @be_maanasa with the contribution of @VMudiyam

Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, producing essential energy for life 🏭⚙️. To synthesize the proteins for this process, mitochondria have mitoribosomes. But, how do the mitoribosomes from Alveolates assemble? 🧵 https://t.co/bxnrDmGviz

Hot off the press, congratulations, you all!! @MGissot @be_maanasa
A new study in @PLOSBiology from our lab shows the role of the PP1 phosphatase in controlling the tachyzoite cell cycle and amylopectin storage in T. gondii. Kudos to the two PhD students involved: AS Khelifa and @be_maanasa ! #PLOSBiology: https://t.co/BaGpbEzNxY

It appears #NIAID will shutter the genome data base we all use daily. This strikes me as a significant mistake that may well endanger much of our global progress. @BSPparasitology @AS_Para @ASTMH @TrendsParasitol @AmSocParasit @parasitesrule @PiParasitology

@SayaliDeolankar 1 of my colleagues told me smthing whn I joined. Aftr 10 yrs, I undrstnd the value of that advice. He told, “Abhijit, b aware of 2 acad sins. 1. Not rewarding who deserves, and 2. Rewarding who doesn’t deserve”. A guide would always invest more into who puts effort.
