How famous can a scientist be? Well, a Nobel Laureate steps on the #40 bus in Philadelphia - and not a single person on the bus knows who they are. BTW the laureat looks like could not care less about fame. I find humble nerdiness an endearing and crucial trait in scientists

So proud of my colleague Sebastian Shaw, a terrific scientist who will build an undoubtedly fantastic team as a professor in Zürich!

Cryptosporidium genetics really works! Latest cross explains why tb drug failed in crypto clinical trial. Widespread genomic heterogeneity at the type II NAD(P)H dehydrogenase locus predisposes Cryptosporidium to clofazimine resistance @millseba https://t.co/3g7zSjBYpP

Read our new paper on mapping virulence in Cryptosporidium by genetic cross. Terrific work by Sebastian Shaw ⁦@millseba⁩ that started in the depth of the pandemic. https://t.co/jS6S5kMvm4

Sixty Baby! Not as bad as I thought it would be when I was twenty. I never had plans for this long. Super grateful for my awesome family, friends and lab! All in all a pretty good ride for a kid from Duisburg-Ruhrort.

Oh the joyful consequences of Pennsylvania politics on My Philadelphia commute. Crushing public transportation when you most need it is such a infuriatingly stupid move.

BTW despite evidence to the contrary Boris feels better about the world - largely for paddling 80 m of whitewater on the Salmon River in Idaho where he slept on the beach, made friends, thought about himself, and only worried about rocks and big rapids with bit waves and holes.
