Our parasite genome databases are really gone! The lack of communication and scientific vision @NIH is hard to follow. Colossal mistake! @parasitesrule @BSPparasitology @theNASciences @ScienceMagazine @Nature @NIAIDNews

Very excited to see this out in press. An effort led by @saimamaysidik and Dylan Valleau to understand the function of the CLAMP complex in apicomplexan parasites!
A conserved complex of microneme proteins mediates rhoptry discharge in #Toxoplasma: @LouridoLab @WhiteheadInst @MITBiology show that three #apicomplexan-specific #microneme proteins form a complex essential for #rhoptry discharge and invasion https://t.co/N9iSf0wZHl

Very excited to share our latest study using cryo-ET to investigate actin filaments in #Apicomplexan parasites. This allowed us to learn where do these filaments originate at the cell tip and how they could be managed down the cell body to power motility! https://t.co/vNeVXkti2B

Like many joys in science, promotions develop slowly making it hard to know when to mark the occasion. Happy to share my promotion to Associate Professor with Tenure @MITBiology. Immense gratitude to all the lab members, colleagues, and mentors who have made this possible!

Science friends, has anyone encountered instability or toxicity from NanoLuc-containing plasmids in E. coli?. The troublesome plasmids are not supposed to express NanoLuc in bacteria, but even if they did, there are no intrinsically toxic sequences associated with its ORF.

Just signed the support letter acknowledging the immense value of ToxoDB and sister databases in research. Inviting all PIs who see these databases as fundamental omic tools to do the same. Your signature matters! @veupathdb @LouridoLab @omartheharb

Toxoplasma gondii causes lifelong, occasionally severe infections in humans. In this news story @LiveScience , I discuss a newly discovered Achilles’ heel in the parasite that may bring scientists closer to developing a cure. https://t.co/OtrPb0EIfE

A single-cell parasite relies on two genes that boost each other's activity to switch into "defense mode" when attacked by the immune system.
