22 Megawatt wind turbines! A wind farm with just 50 of these could produce as much power as a large nuclear plant. This potential has always been there, and if we hadn’t wasted 50 years on nukes, we could already be carbon free. .

Given that nuclear power plants make electricity that only provides a moment of benefit, while the radioactive waste they create lasts forever, it’s more accurate to refer to them as “nuclear waste factories.” Here’s another multi-billion $ clean up in West Valley, NY.

RADIATION SPILL The fundamental design flaw of spent fuel pools on upper floors was demonstrated in the Fukushima disaster. Spent fuel pools contain more fuel and radiation than reactor cores. If they meltdown, it can be 100x worse. Japan learned nothing.

We have been warning for decades that nuke plants are natural targets in war. There is simply no way to protect a nuclear plant from a determined attack. If it melts down, it would contaminate much of Europe. Germany and Taiwan realize they are more secure without nuke plants.

IAEA experts confirmed physical impact of drone attacks at ZNPP today, incl. at 1 of its 6 reactors. One casualty reported. Damage at unit 6 has not compromised nuclear safety, but this is a serious incident w/ potential to undermine integrity of the reactor’s containment system.

This story is important for two reasons. 1) Even in Japan, solar is growing enough to start offering free electricity. 2) As the article says, dirty, expensive nuclear power bumps inexpensive, clean solar off the grid. Nukes kill solar. Can’t have both.

Latest nuclear insanity! Letting AI do the paperwork for building new nuke plants. This is akin to simply copying old applications and submitting them as new. It is incredibly dangerous and should be illegal!!

More delays and more delays for Finland’s “prize” reactor. Years late, billions over budget, unreliable.

THIS is how we get to 100% carbon-free power!! Once again, a country without nukes leads the way. It’s clear that the only way to reach our climate goals is to dump nukes and throw everything in to renewables.

Good morning with good news: Renewables generated 95% of Portugal's electricity in April! Wow! That compares to 76.5% in April 2023, 66.8% in April 2022 and 56.1% in April 2021. Wind was 31%, solar nearly 12%, hydro 45% and bioenergy 7%! Data from:

The nuclear industry is built on lies. The Vogtle plants, the most expensive power plants in human history, could not have been built without extensive lies about costs and construction times.

No Sam. “NRC rules and state/local permitting holdups” are not why Vogtle is the most expensive power plant ever built on earth. Take a gander at Ga PSC reports on the reasons. Links to original filings available upon request.

In 2023, renewables grew by 510 Gigawatts worldwide. Nukes grew by a tiny 4 Gigawatts in 2022 with massive subsidies and taking decades to come online. Nukes are losing the race to save the planet. Time to dump them for good.

Great news! Also important to remember this CO2 drop was accomplished with wind, solar, and storage, NOT any new nuclear.

Good morning with good news: US CO2 emissions are down 5% in 2023 thru April, compared to 2022. Progress. Coal's CO2 emissions are down ~23%! Coal accounts for just 16% of US energy emissions, with gas at 38% & oil 46%. CO2 from oil/gas is down too.

The IAEA violated its own founding principles when it blessed the Fukushima radiation dumping. It created an incredible loophole that lets any country dump any radiation it wants into the Pacific. It’s a “crooked cop” and has lost all credibility.

Lost another anti-nuclear hero. Every town with nuclear waste or nuclear fuel pays the price in cancer. Sometimes a hero like Patty fights for people and truth, but all too often, there are no voices but the corporate liars claiming everything’s fine.

An excellent review of why concerns about dumping radioactivity into the Pacific by Japan at Fukushima are real. We should all be fighting it.

Time to shut down Diablo. Newsom’s blatant lie that CA needs Diablo to keep the lights on is being disproven every day. With more solar and storage, renewables can power CA 24/7.

Turns out wind farms have no measurable effect on bird populations after all. Fracking, on the other hand, causes bird populations to drop by 15%. No Nukes! No Carbon! Yes, Wind! Yes, Sun!
