a reminder that 1) Johnson appointed Gray to look into partygate 2) that the final report did not condemn him (it talked vaguely about leadership failures in civil service and Number 10) and 3) that the Metropolitan Police were already investigating in parallel
NEW: Boris Johnson says he now believes Sue Gray had been approached to work for Labour's Ed Miliband *before* she conducted her 'ridiculous and unfair witch hunt' into Partygate. She went on to quit the civil service to work for Starmer https://t.co/kXpfG4Ue6J via @MailOnline

As people still go on about the Last Supper bit at the opening ceremony, Iām reminded of the joke about the disciple asking the inn-owner if they can have a table for 26. Owner (counting): āBut thereās only 13 of you.ā Disciple: āYes but we all want to sit down one side.ā

This is a maddeningly misleading headline for an interesting data-backed article by @oliver_wright the main point of which is that Reform in 2024 got hardly any more support among young voters than UKIP did back in 2015.

For all his talk of a TikTok āawakeningā, election analysis shows Nigel Farageās party barely beat Ukipās young vote from 2015

Every time I see Farage at the Republican Convention it reminds me of Jerry Lee Lewis. What's Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made A Loser Out Of Me) https://t.co/6UT3xdhttl via @YouTube

This reminds me of watching an Earth Day telathon in the US in 1990. The presenter mangled the slogan and, instead of saying "think global, act local", pronounced that we were to "think local, act global". It's a perfect encapsulation of US foreign policy.
There's such a contrast between Europeans watching American politics and Americans watching European politics. While we obsessively follow what happens in like Milwaukee or Delaware because it could have a massive impact on our life, Americans don't think about us at all

Ordered a Thai takeaway from Rosaās Thai Cafe earlier. Was an expensive treat as today was my mumās funeral. Anyway they packed it so badly by the time it got here most of it had leaked into the bag. They donāt seem to be on Twitter but want them to know how shit this was.

Can't help feeling this Covid report is rather more important than the whole Republican convention/Biden will-he-won't-he thing, which is getting so much airtime right now - at least for us over here. https://t.co/MLIkrrlcJl

I've posted a lot of football content, which isn't exactly Windrush related, for an additional reason. Southgate is one of a vanishingly small number of public personalities, who, at the height of insane BLM backlash and attacks on Black players, stood by them. Didn't tell them

An awful lot of airtime given to JD Vance on the BBC this morning. Will they do the same when Kamala Harris addresses the Democratic convention?
