orphan GPCR, pharmacology, nanobodies postdoctoral associate at @scrippsresearch
Joined September 2012
We have innovated design of templates for CRISPR/Cas9 editing which allows efficient introduction of epitope tags in vivo. It is a simple hack which we hope to be broadly useful. Work by talented graduate student Chuanping Zhao. https://t.co/vtULnZpYKA

Incredible amount of work for this must read paper! Profiling hundreds of GPCR first and second coupling with an assay using natives G alpha is groundbreaking. A Reference in GPCR field ! Congrats @KLabGPCR & Ikuo Masuho!
Our systematic investigation of G protein coupling profiles of 100+ #GPCRs driven by the one and only Ikuo Masuho is out after ~10 years of work. We see many interesting patterns with the help of AI. Check it out- there is a useful reference table. https://t.co/ia0BIfjuii

Excited to share the structure of an orphan #GPCR GPR179 bound to an extracellular cell adhesion molecule Pikachurin (EGFLAM) which is key to light reception. Great collaboration with @fornerislab, @AppuKSingh_IITK and Pat Griffin. https://t.co/CGm0AvdD9r

Very excited to share this great discovery ! 🎉 At @KLabGPCR we finally found the metabotropic receptor for glycine in the brain! Amazing work of @_stezucca_ and @Dipak_P_tsri in collaboration with @ForliLab.
Happy to report that we found what we believe the first ever #GPCR for neurotransmitter glycine. It is an unusual receptor - an orphan GPR158 which couples to RGS proteins instead of G proteins. Thus it is also the first ligand-regulated RGS! Check it out https://t.co/QpsWjstGGg

Our paper is out today @NatureNeuro. We find a new player controlling mu-opioid receptor trafficking via effects on cholesterol: Ptchd1. Mice lacking Ptchd1 do not develop opioid tolerance and their neurons don't desensitize. https://t.co/OZNRh6uB6A

Our paper by @subhimarwari and @CodyKowalski is out today in @BrJPharmacol. We find that pharmacological blockade of Gq/11 suppresses activity of DRG neurons, their inhibition by opioids and has analgesic effects in mice. https://t.co/8heqJeMKRq

Prof. Kirill Martemyanov’s lab have determined the near-atomic-scale structure of an unusual brain-cell receptor (GPR158) linked to #depression & #anxiety. The work now offers a possible new treatment route for mood disorders. https://t.co/l6xARxmv2F

Wow ! The orphan GPCR GPR158's structure is out ! Congratulation to everybody involved ! Special congrats to @Dipak_P_tsri ! I'm proud to work with you guys at @KLabGPCR lab !
Can a #GPCR structure still surprise you? Happy to present #CryoEM structure of an orphan receptor GPR158. https://t.co/uTvlX803ai Couples to RGS instead of G proteins. Features an extracellular Cache domain for ligand binding Forms a unique tight dimer stapled by phospholipids
