Book sniffer. Earth animal. Very amateur thought-haver developing an atheology of love, outlined in the website link. Call me Bill. CW: pronouns
Joined May 2019
This is a superthread of material related to the project I call an atheology of love, a moral and spiritual philosophy I'm developing around the idea that love can function as a source of subjective meaning and value on premises of atheism, naturalism, and moral error theory.

I hate that this happened so much. I've been sad about it for hours, and about the violence that humanity, seemingly compulsively and inescapably, inflicts on itself. And I hate what will be done with it. The racism that it will be used to justify, the ridiculous agenda-fueled.
This image is harrowing. Imagine youâre that girl just sitting there on your phone, being as quiet and as small as possible to not bother anyone and then in one instant your life is ending. Absolutely devastating.

Idk what this is about but I am gonna demean and devalue the Christian faith so hard.
Our nation was founded on the recognition that moral virtue and a steadfast faith in God are necessary preconditions of freedom. Yet under the Biden Administration, U.S. foreign policy belittled Christianity and weaponized government against faith. That era has ended. Under.

I don't want to fully write off the notion that social collapse comes from a loss of faith. But this doesn't automatically have to turn us back toward Christianity. I want to see a growing faith in ourselves as humans, and the institutions that we build together. If that sounds.
the older i get, the more i realize religion isnât optional. most of todayâs social collapse comes from a loss of faith. the west cannot survive without christianity.

I live exactly as if God and morality are myths, purpose only exists in minds that grew out of the earth, and I along with everyone else am guided only by desire, care, and reason as I navigate this world to fulfill my needs and participate in the flourishing of the beings I.
If someone calls themselves a âgood personâ but lies, steals, cuts people off in traffic, and never helps others, are they really good or just saying they are?. Likewise, if someone calls themselves an atheist but lives as if God, and by extension morality, purpose, and reason.

This stupid list is an interesting illustration of the way religion can capture, embed, and transmit actual wisdom. We didn't need religion to tell us that avoiding input from people you respect is a sign that you're making a bad decision. Experience delivers that insight on its.

Can we have a buddy cop movie where one of the cops is literally a capybara?.

Other Christians get so mad about Calvinism (being honest about the deterministic implications of God's infallible foreknowledge of everything). I mean yeah, you believe that God is infinitely cruel, deal with it.

I'm gonna go one step further and say I love this. I love that young people push against constraints. I love that they make us look like fools when we clutch our pearls at them. This is youth. This is humanity. This was you. Don't you remember?.
I never know what to think when people say âyou arenât ready for whatâs comingâ about teens. âThey make holocaust and rape jokes in real life and they say slursâ ok that just sounds like 2006. Is there something shocking thatâs happening.

Guys, we need to comprehensively destroy the beauty industry before they get to Emma Myers. Just burn it all down. Non-violently of course.

Hilarious how contemptuous Christians can be of love.
@TheOutsiderHum1 @TeddyRoos1901 @darwintojesus Stop. It's either random atoms bouncing around or hard determinism. All your uttering can't disguise that tomorrow you may forget about your emotional feelings of love & exercise whatever kind of power play you want in order to feel good. You're Sisyphus on a roll. Whatever makes.

Just posted this reply to @darwintojesus's latest ridiculous piece of anti-theist fluff, and wanted to post it here too:. Let me tell you about my worldview as a passionate non-theist. I am a moral and teleological skeptic, or "nihilist". I don't believe there is any ultimate.
Atheism is a worldview. Itâs a view of the world without God. Furthermore, all belief systems have implications and result in actions, whether there is an official creed or tenet is completely irrelevant. Thereâs no tenet of nihilism that says you have to shoot up a school,.
