NYC is its people. It is not, or at least should not be, a police state that is propped up by the NYPD. Even if you believe that police play a real role in public safety, the NYPD shouldn’t have a veto over what New Yorkers vote for. If cops leave, the city will manage.

This is a big deal. So many people, especially younger tenants, don't even know they're rights.
Soon, every NYC building with even one rent-stabilized apartment will have a lobby sign making it clear, plus instructions on how to check whether your unit is rent-stabilized.

Why is Schumer so hard to dislodge? Because he is the "Senator from Wall Street" who makes it rain and most of his colleagues have fed at his trough.
Other than ego and careerism, what IS the argument for Schumer staying? I've said this before but he has no rep as a political mastermind. He's not a ball buster or warrior. He's awful on TV. Why is HE the essential Democrat in these unique times?
