This % just went down again today. Women and minorities have made substantial contributions in science and medicine. Surely we can do better in awards and our inclusion. #ItMatters @ibroSecretariat @NobelPrize @theNASEM.
In science, most awards are bestowed by self-promotion or politics, neither favors women. The US has won more Nobel prizes than any other country, but only 4% went to women. In celebration of women’s successes and achievements everywhere, nominate a deserving woman for an award!.

Agreed!! AND that this was an award honoring incredible science by an incredible scientist who happens to be female. Nudging up ever so slightly that 4% of Nobels to women. 🤩.
Today's Nobel is a reminder to focus on the work and not the journal. The key publications cited by the committee were published in Immunity, Molecular Therapy, and Nucleic Acids Research. Respectable journals, but not the Big 3. The discoveries are what's important, not a name.
