I'm excited to share that I joined
@inngest
as DevRel Lead🥳
Here's why:
➡️ the product is a game-changer🔥
➡️ the team is fantastic💜
➡️ the cofounders are known to be kind, honest, and empathetic
I took a moment to decide where to work next🧵
So much new terminology in the conversations around React 18 release.
See this Explain Like I'm Five thread to get clarity on terms like:
✨ concurrency
✨ batching
✨ suspense
✨ a sub-tree
To add a new word: comment or DM me 💕

@CodeNewbies
Last week I was laid off with the rest of the team.
Thank you to all community members with whom I collaborated. I deeply enjoyed our projects.
I'll now take some time off to reflect a little.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for a TERRIFIC engineer or manager, dm
@jevakallio
✨
This is a hard one to put out there. Last week I stripped PartyKit way back. I thank
@jevakallio
and
@sylwiavargas
from the bottom of my heart for their invaluable contributions and friendship, we wouldn’t have gotten so far so fast without them. They’re absolutely incredible
✨ I have lovely news to share! ✨
I've joined the wonderful
@partykit_io
team because everything's better with friends!
I can't wait to help you all add collaborative and realtime pizzazz to to your apps 🥳

Bittersweet news.
I love
@StackBlitz
- the team, the products, the amazing culture.
However, I recently received an exciting opportunity, which I decided to pursue.
I am proud of these 1,5 years with the incredible StackBlitz folks and this thread is a love letter to them 🥰
The nicest thing about giving a conference talk is that at some it is done and you feel a deep sense of relief 🥹
I enjoyed my first live long tech talk at
@canariasjs
- and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be here!
I’m so grateful for the
@ThePracticalDev
community. Whenever I look for some fluffy interactions and great blogs, DEV is my go-to. I just found this wonderful card in my mailbox 🥰 thank you!
TIL job seekers who reside in the EU (or the UK) can request to see all the interview notes made about them under the GDPR Right of Access.
The employers should keep the notes for (recommended) 6 months.
I’d be curious how serious companies treat such requests.
I’m so happy to share with you my Next.js Conf talk! 🥰
This was a talk I put a lot of thought and effort into, and I’d like to share a few things and a few shoutouts with you all.
Big announcement: Saturday was my first day as a
@sequoia
scout. My primary focus area is the English countryside. Already landed a big one on my first day 🤩
Question to women in tech:
Do you enjoy women-only events (like meetups or pre-conference dinners) or is that something we don’t like to do?
Answer here or DM me. I wanna hear from you 💜
All takes are much appreciated!
Huge news - you can run StackBlitz on Safari, iOS, iPadOS 🔥
In the blog post I explain our architecture decisions, past and present, including parts that are often misunderstood about how browsers and WebContainers work 👀
OSS is about collaboration and not celebrity pageant. I’d prefer if the winner got this money to allocate onto the well-being of their team. Otherwise, we are just perpetuating the “singular genius” narrative when in fact OSS is oftentimes a result of multitude of contributions.
An open-source-maintainer popularity contest seems weird to me. I get that it's probably a marketing tactic (and a smart one) but something about it feels weird.
Starting today, I'll post a daily shoutout to a dev who influenced me positively and whose work inspires me.
I trust that if you asked me for recommendations in the past, you'll follow them and learn from them💕
It's one dev a day for intentional engagement and time to read ✨
A blissful moment that happened this month: a sunrise stroll in the Grand Canyon on my birthday.
It was one of my long-held dreams and although I barely take selfies, I think I’ll print this one out ✨
I'm happy to share that I'm one of those new team members at
@stackblitz
, a team that continually makes my heart warm 💕
This is definitely a work culture "best-case" scenario and I'd like to share some of the good practices that helped me feel so safe.
2021

..and we're just getting started! So proud of this amazing team ❤️
🥂 2022!
Next week I will finally be able to tell everyone what we've been working on at StackBlitz. I've been using these tools and I'm still in disbelief that they exist.
Also, this is going to be my first conference talk! I'm stressed! Pop in and tell me what you think 🥰
⚡️ We're thrilled to announce the

I’m thinking a lot about my stepfather who owns a small travel agency in a small Polish town.
When all travel froze for 2+ years, he wouldn’t consider layoffs as an option because he feels responsible for the people he hired and because his integrity is important to him.
Sitting at a lunch with 7 developer dudes as the only woman, listening to them talk about kids, parenting, birth preps, nappies, tantrums, parenting books, emotions
- and then again, at dinner, and the next day
Refreshing that this is what dudes geeking out looks like now 🥰
…and 8 weeks later I’ve done my first continuous 5k 💜
It’s fascinating to see how my endurance changed. In Jan I’d wheeze after a 1,5min jog. Today
@SianGooding
and I were able to run, chat, and laugh for 40 mins. My body got stronger but I also handle discomfort better now.
Inspired by
@wheresnadia
who told me about a runners club in NYC, I joined a London one.
I don't like to rush so, naturally, I don't run but today's first meeting brought me so much joy 💜
For the next weeks I'll be learning to run 5k without imagining the impending doom.
A shoutout to
@patak_dev
for being one of the kindest people in tech, and a wonderful colleague.
Matias is one of the folks who truly believe that you achieve good by collaborating - no surprise that the communities he's co-creating are so wholesome ✨
In a 3-person team you get to see how people really work.
I'd known Jani from his work on innovative tech. Here I saw him as an excellent project lead, empathetic diplomat, and experienced technologist who quickly zooms in/out to prevent future problems.
Get him on your team✨
@SylwiaVargas
It was an absolute privilege to work with you! PartyKit had an outsized influence in the community compared to the size of the team, and so much of it was thanks to you ❤️
When I taught at a bootcamp, there were so many women who learned to code to be able to afford baseline safety by moving out of their family home or divorcing an abusive husband.
Knowing you don't have to put up with bs and that you will be fine on your own is liberating.
I haven't decided how to write about this yet but 1 year into making 6-figures and I am consistently smacked in the face by how much earning a decent salary has affected my relationship to men and dating as a cis heterosexual woman. I cannot be alone in this.
So much work and joy went into releasing WebContainer API 💙 it's here for you all to use!
Thank you to our amazing Community who've inspired the shape of the API and the docs🥰
Today, after years of battle testing by millions of developers, in collaboration with browser vendors:
WebContainer API is now available to everyone.
Start building the next generation of interactive coding experiences at ❤️🧵
@venikunche
I once attended a great workshop by
@mckensiemack
on
#BoundaryWork
during which they said: "be transformational with people and transactional with institutions": investing emotionally with people + no free work for companies. Also, I recommend their workshops!
Wonderful news: I am joining
@VonageDev
as a technical writer!
I love writing, teaching, and programming and this role is a delightful mix of all three.
I’m excited about my new team, made up of the kindest humans on Earth 💕
I caved in and joined my team in using
@linear
- and it's been great. Who knew I don't have to keep track of everything in my head🤯
Two questions for the fellow Linear aficionados:
- What are your favorites Linear tricks?
- How do you like to organize your issue descriptions?
Question to introverts who speak at multiple conferences or run booths:
How do you manage your energy? 🥺
Last week I was at
@NodeCongress
and then at a
@astrodotbuild
meetup. I loved the events and the people, but I ended up exhausted to the point of “I can’t think anymore”😩
Yesterday
@jevakallio
explained Durable Objects better than any other material from
@CloudflareDev
(+he live coded a demo)
There’s so much value in practitioners talking about the products they use. DevAdvocates often don’t have enough product training and it shows in docs/talks
I’m so giddy with excitement because of our product roadmap at
@stackblitz
🤩
We’re releasing the first announcement later today, together with a blog post I wrote 👀
My
@stackblitz
frontend interview was a disaster. I blanked out on the most basic CSS identifiers.
I didn't feel humiliated because
@sulco
and
@iamalbertpai
met me with empathy. Instead,I knew I had to practice interviewing and learn pure CSS.
...And now I work and grow here 🥰
Good news!
@inngest
is hiring for three roles:
➡️ Distributed Systems Eng
➡️ Product Eng
➡️ Staff/Senior Frontend Eng
What I like about working here:
- remote + high ownership culture
- great team
- healthy culture
- stable and loved product
RT, please💜
October reminded me that
✨at times we're all socially awkward and awkwardly social
✨collaboration > competition
✨pop-up books bring joy
✨the world is full of friends we're yet to meet
✨being quiet and listening is a valid way to socialize
✨asking "why" creates opportunities
“A man incited bullying onto a Lebanese woman for sharing a critique of a framework he wrote not for the critique itself, but because she didn't give him the admiration he felt he deserved. That's not respect. That's systemic entitlement”
~
@cherthedev
@wesbos
Hi Wes! Yes, it really is an OS running *inside* your browser like on a local machine so you can run a shell, processes, and so on😊
Would love to hear your feedback and ideas!
The data is just package manager-related reqs - we cover it in the docs too💙
I have never talked at a tech conference, never helped with organizing one, and never been a part of a massive launch.
Tomorrow all of this changes!
If you wanna see what I’ve been excited about, join us tomorrow at 9:20am pst / 6:20pm cet 💕
I feel blessed that at
@stackblitz
my team and bosses have my back.
I’m not scared to admit I dropped a ball or need help because it’s not gonna be seen as a personal flaw.
Experimenting and growing is easy when you have a safety net of your experienced and kind colleagues 🥰
if you:
✨ identify as a woman or a non-binary person
✨like react/js
✨are kinda thinking about speaking at conferences
Please reach out! We (
@ReactJSLadies
) are hosting low-key short lightning talks series as a stage for YOU!
We are happy to help you prep and cheer for you 💕
Talking with
@SylwiaVargas
@driannavaldivia
&
@indigitalcolor
today has me so excited for our 2021 events for ReactLadies!
Looking for some folks to do lightning talks about careers/tech for the next few events - esp ppl new to speaking.
If you know someone, please connect us!
Exciting news 🥳 Also: we are hiring!
To most, StackBlitz is "just" a mind-blowing technology.
To me, it's also a workplace and a team that balances ambition with empathy, autonomy with collaboration, and hard work with rest. I never thought I could be this happy at work 💕
In March, over 2 million developers & 70% of top OSS maintainers collaborated on StackBlitz. 🤯
Now it's time to take things to the next level.
We're excited to share we've raised $7.9M led by Greylock & GV (Google Ventures):
This is just the beginning!
This is what we all have been working on at
@stackblitz
.
I have been using Codeflow for the past weeks and I'm not going back. We use it internally every day. Bah, our docs site was built in Codeflow. Our PR reviews are in Codeflow. I LOVE IT.
Introducing: StackBlitz Codeflow! ♾
Codeflow is a one-click GitHub integration that keeps you in flow state by seamlessly weaving together:
- creating & reviewing pull requests
- fixing issues
- contributing to open-source repositories
in a way that wasn't possible before: 🧵
I like when people use unique markers of time, like:
"three apartments ago",
"two jobs ago",
"a whole gender ago".
a fun way to frame your personal history
I wish it was possible to use words from your native language in any chat and be understood.
I sigh when I say “day after tmrw” and “day before yesterday” - in Polish there’s pojutrze and przedwczoraj.
(English used to have “overmorrow”/ “ereyesterday” that disappeared, sadly)
I love the culture at
@stackblitz
where my colleagues engage in serious code bending and then take time to share their takeaways in blog posts or (internal) presentations🥰
So easy to learn with this bunch!
I love digging into browser engines. Last night I had some fun compiling V8 and Spidermonkey to inspect optimized machine code for arm64.
You can expect a blog post coming your way 😇
When it comes to job boards, my favorites are:
@DiversifyTechCo
showcases only legit workplaces + features a reverse job board where candidates advertise themselves
✨
@WomenWhoCode
's board
✨
@jsjoeio
's board
✨
@hirethePIVOT
- folks who pivoted careers (a reverse job board)
I'm going for mini-vacations tomorrow and I'm counting down to the airport coffee, reading on the plane, feeling the sand under my feet, the beautifully-made hotel bed, the hotel breakfast, looking at pretty buildings, eating lovely things, hiking, and biking 🌞
With everything that's happening in web dev, I keep thinking about how our language shapes our attitudes and actions. If we see a discussion as war ("win", "defend", "battleground", "attack"), it becomes that.
I try to see disagreements as an opportunity for creating beauty🌸
What a strange longing - I miss people with whom I shared short moments of genuine connection. A chat, a joke, a moment of silence.
I’m leaving SF feeling happy, calm, and grateful.
I’m not sad that I didn’t get to grab one more coffee - I’m happy we will meet again.
My upstairs neighbor has been learning to sing and play guitar and piano for the past half a year.
His complete lack of sense of pitch or rhythm doesn’t prevent him from an everyday hour-long loud practice of Hey Jude, Life on Mars, and one more I can’t yet make out.
Admirable.
I’d write what I think about that “it’s going to be a grind” job ad but I’m currently visiting my family in Poland and at 5pm I usually take my second break to sit in the garden with a cup of coffee and a book while our cat is quietly purring in his dream.
We hosted another Future of Coding meetup in London - the talks and demos were amazing, all thanks to
@Mappletons
’ sixth sense of curating a stellar lineup.
The next edition, taking place in 6-8 weeks will be announced at ✨
A cozy weekend.
- Swimming with
@GeorginaRannard
(water temperature at 6*C/44F).
- Reading a book.
- Enjoying all the colors and shapes of the wintry sunset.
- Restorative yoga with a friend.
I’m dedicating 2024 to balance, kindness, wellbeing, friendship, and rest.
There's actually a psycholinguistic reason to why "slice" and "splice" is a nightmare syntax choice and it ties to how we can better structure tech education 👀
I'm going to give a talk about it this year 💕
Have you ever left a job feeling appreciated and supported by your manager and colleagues? 💕
I recently reflected on my resignation process in a blog post.
I feel like it tells a lot about the work culture how people leave and how they are then treated.
So far I've been using
@stackblitz
Codeflow to code, review PRs, correct typos, and now I'm also playing a game
@hmans
made. I LOVE IT.
Link to the game:
I think I haven't shown off our
@StackBlitz
swag that's really cosycore fashion at its best:
✨soft and comfortable pants that look good
✨minimalist (yet personalized) water bottle
✨T-shirts: one nerdy, one minimalist
✨high-quality socks with nice texture.
I love it here 🥰
I’m so excited to participate in
@railsconf
💕 Ruby is my programming love language so these next few days are really special to me!
I might tweet a bit about Ruby and Rails and if you don’t want to see these updates, please consider muting the
#RailsConf2021
tag.
