The 10× engineers who only care about architecture and 10× designers who only care about aesthetics are equally baffling. Users do not have opinions on anything they don’t tangibly experience. The UI is, quite literally, the only thing users will judge your product on.

Copying UI has been trivial for at least 20 years. That's not product design. This is not what designers get paid to do. I have said this before, but: the best product designers I've worked with spend barely any time in Figma, they don't waste time drawing pictures of software.

https://t.co/mgB4jcNQ6K Is AI to blame for our current mental health crisis? Of course not, but mark my words, it will be responsible for the next wave. AI partners are already a massive industry—these users’ lack of human connection is being exploited for profit. To what end?

Reading between the lines, a Character AI user took their own life after being pushed to do so by an LLM?! Not a single one of these AI companies has considered any mental health guardrails, which should have been part of the threat model from day one. It will only get worse.
We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of one of our users and want to express our deepest condolences to the family. As a company, we take the safety of our users very seriously and we are continuing to add new safety features that you can read about here:

The `startViewTransition` API is the best addition to the platform of the last 5 years! I never expected native FLIP animation primitives to land, but here we are! 🎉
#dev I really like the document.startViewTransition API. It makes crafting animations like these pretty easy, and it is super smooth as it uses native CSS animations.

Most convoluted naming schemes of all time: 1. User Agent strings 2. iPhone releases 3. Every product released by an AI company

Watched Face/Off recently and had this uncanny feeling that Nic Cage looked very… deepfaked? Did some more digging and was reminded that foundational deepfake algorithms were built by hackers making Nic Cage face swap memes, inspired by the movie Face/Off. Life is weird!

Kinda mad ✨AI ✨ currently has a monopoly on magical vibes because that’s how all software is supposed to feel

Turns out the instant gratification of social media is poison for ADHD brains, so I’m trying this new thing where I finish a fucking project before posting about it. I apologize in advance for the vague posts!
