Using checklists has strangely been seen as a sign of weakness in the fire brigade. But would you really prefer relying on memory in a high-pressure moment?. Or ensuring every critical step is covered—every single time?. Checklists aren't cheating. They're professional.

Many see pre-procedural checklists solely as a tool for checking equipment . In EMRS we monitored the heart rate of clinicians during our pre-anaesthetic checklist. 100% of clinicians experienced a fall in heart rate. Here's why.

@annathebanana @heli_med_james Absolutely - standard would be to lift the breast and place under/laterally. There’s a lot of inequity in CPR teaching (all on male models) and it shows in the stats

How is your firefighters' defib pad placement? #CPR.

Defib pad placement is important. Positioning them correctly can double someone’s chance of survival. Side A is correct. The key difference is that the pad on the left hand side of the chest has been placed on the side of the rib cage, closer to the armpit.

Good to see. Having to operate rescue equipment in flooding environments is a likely scenario. How many services incorporate using battery powered rescue equipment with water rescue training?.

Electric Vehicles that have been flooded in saltwater can catch fire. If you evacuated and left an electric vehicle or golf cart in your garage or under a building and you are not able to get to it or move it, we want you to let us know. /1

Great interagency collaboration!. If we respond to incidents together, we should train together—essential for a smooth and coordinated emergency response. Terminology shared, new ways of working learned and new bonds between teams created. #JESIP.

Good safe system of work with the technicians tethered and using the eddy (calm area of water) created by the tree/bend to work from. Good work! #WaterRescue.

A very lucky driver escaped flood water with the help of fire crews after their car got stuck on a ford near Condover early this morning. Photos from the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service show the rescue operation taking place after the firefighters were called at about 7.30am.

In swift water rescue, a human chain formation can help reduce drag, but in chest-deep water moving at 6-10 mph, you're fighting against a force of 1 tonne per cubic meter. Even with teamwork, you're likely to be swept away. Best to avoid these situations entirely!.

I understand why people might see this as fun, but it's important to consider the dangers:.- Hidden open manholes.- Sharp debris.- Waterborne diseases.- Exposure to electrical lines.- Contaminated water with harmful chemicals.- Risk of drowning in deeper areas. #Flooding.

Very promising piece of kit. Fast response when seconds count and, low-risk option to the person conducting the rescue, i.e. the SRT doesn't need to enter the water.

Looks like a great training venue! . Good practice breaking through eddy lines - needs strong aggressive strokes to punch through it (without being swept away) and a ferry angle (the way your head is pointing) either slightly upstream or at 90 degrees. Good work.
