Unpopular opinion that might ruffle feathers: parental ‘sacrifice’ is a myth. A child’s wellbeing is a parent’s responsibility, not a favour. Any sacrifice is yours to bear, not theirs to repay. Raise them fully cognizant of your challenges but know that it’s duty, not charity.
This would also require parents to be honest with their children about the sacrifices they've made to provide a soft landing for them, so it isn't taken for granted. Raising conscious children includes transparency on their status in life and how that status can be jeopardised

It's easy to talk about tackling violence against women and girls, until the violence comes wrapped in a police uniform. To talk about protecting us until we're "difficult" or portrayed as less than ideal victims by authorities to justify failures to protect us.
